Interested in the great builders out there that for one reason or the other get little if no publicity.
I started this thread also on lat-g, but since not everyone is on both boards I thought people here might also be are interested on who else is out there is doing some real trick car building, besides who we normally hear and read of.
Shops that have the talent and resources, whether they seek to or not, of producing vehicles capable of winning major awards such as the AMBR, Ridler, SROTY, SMOTY, etc.

I think alot can be said for "bad news travels fast"... Many times, only the negative stories seem to get published. There are too many good builders out there for me to try and list, aside from not knowing them all, sort of why you are posting.. It is sad that the good guys go un-noticed unless they get a lucky break.

I would love to hear some first hand great experiences about builders, tuners or just bodymen.
On the other I wish I would have had a little warning about the one I used (or used me).
Let's hear about some people you have used personally and have had a good experience.

I'm a little biased but
Goodies Speed Shop
You won't see a bunch of advertising in magazines; but this shop has been around (in one form or another) since the early '60's and has been turing out quality cars since. Jungle Jim worked there in his heyday

Dammit David.. ive been hollering at you since i got back from Japan.. finally i called up Charlie and he told me you were on vacation flinging frisbees and listening to Wham.
lol Wham. Are you doing the Jitterbug too David?
I think we need to see Vengeance and get it covered in the magazines so people will really know who David and RKK are. So how about Amir? Can we get an update with pictures? :)

I'm really happy with work of the paint & body shop did on my car.
http://www.streetrodpainter.com
They did a lot of quality work on my car; he stayed in contact through the process; he followed through with his commitments; and I like that the shop does mostly hot rod/muscle car work, not mainly insurance jobs.
Sure, they're not on the low end of the pay scale, but I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for with paint & body work.

Good to hear how that worked out for you, and a great example of how a shop should treat its customers.
My friend Jared Hancock www.j-rodandcustom.com is one of the super talented up-and-coming young guys in the industry and already has this cover car under his belt which he finished at 24! Every mod on this body is sheetmetal so if you know the car, you know all the things he's done.
Fender vents, taillight panel to accommodate one-off taillights, hand made front valance, custom grille, hood extractors, and a killer sheetmetal console, not to mention all the paint work and just finishing a really nice car at 24.

He also just picked up an Art Morrison Builder's Choice Award at the Puyallup Good Guys show last weekend with a bitchin' 52 Chevy hardtop he just finished for a client.

How about D&Z Customs? Randy is a member here. Has one really cool Chevelle that has had a lot of press and another about to be finished and there is a build thread here.
Impressive start. :twothumbs

And that isn't even his start! Just his most notable accomplishment so far! He's on here but he lurks more than he posts and the majority of his time is spent in the shop. He can be reached on the contact info at his URL.
