I just got the call from Jeff Smith at Car Craft, after tallying the results, Schwartz customer Grant Craft's 1965 Tempest, aka "Temptress" has won the Real Street Eliminator event held in St Paul this past weekend.
It features the new mandrell bent A body chassis with Bilstein coilovers, Baer Brakes. A Schwartz built normally aspirated LS9, with Wiseco Pistons, K1 rods, LS7 Dry sump.
Thanks

Congratulations, Jeff. Is that the second one?
I won with my Cadillac in 2002, in 2003 Andrew Borodin won and I was banned with my Ultima, but allowed to run as a comparison only. And last year 2007 Randy Johnson won with our products, engine and chassis. BTW although Randy was not allowed in the competition this year, he was the only one close in autocross times, about one hundredth of a second slower.
Thanks

Noooo. Really?
One of your cars in this event is like Tiger freakin Woods in a golf tournament. I wouldn't say that you will absolutely win, but I'm sure as hell not betting against it.
Congrats. Seriously.

My buddy wiped the floor with everyone last year in his AMX, featuring anti lock brakes and traction control.
Chevy Craft wouldn't even put it on the cover, as they said it wouldn't sell magazines. I made it to the semi finals to be picked by the readers for the shootout. I always wondered if the mag purposely didn't pick the Mopar as it would have been a neg for sales....

I followed that car on the road course at Gingerman, I tried my best to keep up,and couldn't. Jeff was roasting the tires through some of the turns, really fun to watch. Very well engineered car in a flat black wrapper. Ron

That AMX was awesome, but that was a few years ago that it won.
Randy Johnson won last year with his blue 66 Chevelle with our stuff in it.

WTG Jeff- I saw ya out there and wanted to bend your ear for awhile, but you were super busy and I didn't want to be a pain.
I had a ball in the wagon out there, but you were playing hardball. Glad it all worked toward a win!

Good work Jeff!!!!
I called Jeff early April and asked if he wanted to do Power Tour this year.. and we hatched a plan on the spot.... and it was finished for Power Tour 8 weeks later!!! http://www.schwartzperformance.com/projects.aspx?projectid=27 ..... I live in Hong Kong, the car lives with Jeff. The deal is that he can beat on the car whenever we wants in exchange for garaging the car for me, and I come over a few times a year to beat on it with him. We're going to keep doing silly **** to the car in the neverending quest for speed.
Next on the list is a pair of turbos. I have an Ultima GTR with a 580hp Magnacharged LS2 that I used to think was fast... that was until I drove Jeff's Ultima for one day on Power Tour... Im now totally hooked on Twin Turbo power.....so this slutty little Temptress is gonna cop a blower job soon.... we'll have to change her name to Temptress Blow-Her

I know a guy that can get you a good deal on a Procharger F2!!
But I think a roots blower would be better for that car and it's engine setup.
Noice job boss!!!!! That may have been the fastest build in Jeff's career.

Congrats Jeff! It was cool to see the car in action. I was glad you were able to knock off the kid in the Audi R8.
Of course the kid didn't have any of my duct tape in his trunk ;-)

Scott, did you figure out what caused the problem with your starter?

Ya- the key in the dash got stuck in the 'start' position when I let my friend drive it. So the starter was running with the engine for awhile...until it all went up in smoke! LOL!
No biggie. It's all fixed now.

At least your car is the car it attempts to look like. Not a body shell put on a custom chassis like a A/C Cobra kit car.

Thanks, It wasn't easy. Although I did dominate the autocross once I got the car dailed in on day 2. The dyno challenge took a lot of last minute work going up against big blocks, a 572 and a 502 with NOS.
