The front suspension is currently being built by Max at Bio Kustumz. It will lay the rocker panel on a 22" wheel and get atleast 12-14" of travel. The spindles, control arms, and the engine crossmember will all be hand fabricated out of sheetmetal. No round or square tubing will be used. The factory steering was ditched in favor of a Mustang II rack (more to come on that!) It will use Slam Specialties RE7's and Fox Racing 2.0 shocks. Factory Blazer spindle design was incorporated for the C6 Z06 Corvette Brake swap.

This is definitely a different project than what you guys are use too, but we're all after the same end result.

The front suspension is pretty much lined out. All the Max lacks is the upper control arms, which will be diamond shaped. After I get that back from him in California, Keith Sawyer at Nfamus will get the frame transition (engine crossmember to rails) going, and we should see some progress on one of his nice 4 Link setups in the coming months. I'm ditching the factory S10 rear end in favor of a Winters V-8 Quick-change :). Nick at Intro Custom Wheels will be taking care of me with a set of RTE 66 Gallup's.

Should see some progress this week on the uppers and shock arms!

But what exactly are you going for? Laying rockers on 22's? AND it's gonna handle like its on rails?

Thanks man. You have a nice project going.

This is just simply my cruiser. I'm into air suspension, so my "coilover" is an airbag. I get the biggest thrill by ridding a 1/2" of the ground. I've seen alot of crazy trucks in my scene, but only a few of them compare to the hot rod world.

It's going to handle like a Caddi :)

It's a front steer rack that was mounted as a rear steer making the steering output reversed. With the bell crank (cantilever arm mounted to the side of the rail), it then reverses it so that it is pushing in the right direction for a rear steer. It has been compared to a Rube Goldberg device, but there really was no other simpler way to accomplish it.

As for the truck, I'm quite embarrased.

And you couldn't source a rear steer rack?

While the workmanship is great, the linkages have complexed up the steering. Every joint is a place for it to get sloppy from clearance.

I guess I don't get it. I'll wait until it's done to look at it in total.

Now I understand how it will work. Nothing to be embarrassed about with your truck. This is what I'm starting with.

Very true. Every extra joint is an extra chance for failure. If I went the front steer route, It would be mounted fairly high up (basically in the way of everything). With this crazy steering setup, It allows me to mount my rack at any height I want (low and out of the way). One draw back right now is I need to get a front sump LS pan made, but I'd rather spend the money on that and keep the motor as low as possible.

Just keep your mind open. It has alot going on, which is my style. It will be done before you know it!

Thanks. It's called a uniball. It's used in long travel set ups due to it's high degree of misalignment. A lot of 4X4 and trophy trucks use them for more suspension travel and steering radius.

Thanks man! I don't really consider myself a minitrucker, because that's an easy excuse for people to act like idiots.

As far as the <ST>, no lol. I get it alot though!

What's up guys?! It's been awhile since an update. I got the clip back, and Keith is in the process of tying it into the rest of the frame.

I picked up a new intake for the LS3. It's for ITBs!

Must have more info on that intake, that is the sex! I hate trying to sync multiple TBs but they look so, so good.

The manifold was built by Hogan's Racing Manifolds. It's build for 8 - 50MM Inglese EZ EFI TBs. They use LS7 style injectors, and are easier to tune then most ITB setups!

Haha, thanks Marty! It's gonna be a very long time till it's done, but that first drive down the road will make it all worth it.

I'm still not happy with the front end, so I enlisted the help of Bob Thrash for an idea or two:

I've always wondered what a dime would look like if someone raked the grill 10-15 degrees and double pie cut the fenders to blend it. I have a feeling it would come out some what like a g-body monte SS, but trugly.

Just_Robert
07-20-2010, 06:14 AM
Ehh. We'll just have to see how "trugly" it is.

ArtosDracon
07-20-2010, 11:29 PM
For clarification, my definition of trugly is something that would be considered either sacriledge, heresy or stupid on a car, but passes the sniff test on a truck just fine. Like the guy who mounted a dodge magnum front end on a dakota, I thought it looked nice.

Like the sketch. I'm in the same boat...kinda. I've tried to come up with something different on the front but..well not a lot of choices. I'm looking forward to see how this goes.

Bob Thrash has been really killing it on some of these ideas. I've decided to go with this front end. It's a perfect representation of a 67 C10 with the 2012 touch of technology.

Wheel design:
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Paint Scheme:
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

"First draft of my 2 tone idea ,what im thinking is the early C10 trucks had a beltline trim that had Woodgrain thru the center on Deluxe models ,we could airbrush this on ,the upper and lower rocker color would be a Walnut pearl color and the body sides and tailgate area would be a lighter Beige pearl. I've always been a fan of painted wheel centers so they too shall be painted in a Satin Bronze color, separating the top and side colors would be a bold Orange stripe that wraps around the whole truck ,mirrors are upper body color too." - Bob Thrash

Marty has a finished truck! I have a partial frame and a lot of drawings. I'm not even on his level yet guys. It's a progression thing, it's not like I'm out to top a certain truck. Imagine the next quality of truck that tops Syborg, and it keeps going and going!

Not to worry you are going to be building the next baddest s10 on the planet. I truely hope you take it to the next level and look forward to watching your build.

I'm starting the Drivetrain chapter this month. Robbie at Pacific Coast Customs will handle it. We're gonna start on the ITB setup. He's gonna spend a lot of time making this setup perfect, because IMO, it could be the coolest part of the build.

This is not great fab work it is pure art done with metal and at a level most of us can only dream about. I can honestly say I could never concieve even thinking up this kind of work. Mad talent to even think it up let alone pull off building this. Beyond Cool
