View Full Version : Ford 9" Brake line routing?

I am in the process of finalizing the rearend in my car (welding the spring perches on and then powdercoating). I have weld-on tabs for hard lines, or I guess braided line would also be an option.
Just wondering how others have done theirs? How about posting up a few pics?

Here's the one in my GTO with a backbrace welded on it, not a great pic but it might help. The brake line tee is mounted to a bracket that bolts to the top stud that hold the pumpkin in, not sure where the bracket came from but likely an original from the car that was made to work. You wouldn't have to make the lines up to clear the A-body upper pivots welded to the housing like I did.

1969 Cougar 9" showing the stock line routing. I doubt you'd want to place the brake line tee in the axle tube as pictured here. These early Cougar rear ends are a bolt-in on first-gen F-body cars, the spring perches are in the right place.

Finally a GM A-body 8.5 I just installed in my Tempest, sorry no 9" pics but most of the line routing I used here might help you. No bracket is used for the tee fitting on these rears, the tee bolts directly to a cast-in tapped boss on the top of the housing.

The FlexKORE braided lines on both sides are mounted so you can pull the caliper off far enough to change out the brake pads, another one is used in the center for the flex line as well. You'll definitely want to use hard lines for all the other lines on your rear end.
