not 100% on this one but if i remember correctly from a thread on nastyz28.com, the frame wont work because the first gen was narrower. also all of suspension points changed (for the better) so you would also be doing a full susp. swap. plus i'm sure all of the fender and cor support stuff is going to be slightly off too.
might search over there real quick and see what comes up.
if I am remembering that correctly, making one work would be 'possible' but it would be more of a fabricating exercise than a worth while endeavor... at that point it would be easier to go with aftermarket or build your own.
hope that helps

We did the swap into a 68 Camaro many years ago. The mounts are close. We ended up cutting them off and making new ones.
The 2nd gen frames are real nice as far as geometry, much improvment over the 1st.
good luck finding a frame....what happened to your old one?

Wish I could pick your brain on the finer details of this.

Same here. My biggest concern is track width. Second gen. geometry would be better than what I have now.
I'm certain the sub in my Nova is bent. I didn't realize it untill I re-installed it.

All righty then!
I did a quick search and found that the front track width for a 1971 Nova is 59 inches.
The track width for a 1975 Nova, which shared the front sub with the second gen. Camaro, is 61.3 inches. It's a little wider but shouldn't cause too many head aches.
I do seem to remember reading somewhere that the second gen. Camaro had some "drop" designed into the sub, as compared to the 1975 and up Nova. True or false? :hmm:
Too many questions and not enough answers.

I have a bare frame out of a 74 nova. I'm in northwest Indiana but my inlaws are in Lima Ohio. I'd bring it out there next time we go out if you are not in need of it right away. Let me know if you are interested.

A couple details that I barely remember is the rear mount holes are moved forward 2 1/2" the mid mount holes are moved in 1" and the fronts remain the same. Mount heights remain the same.
Like I said we did this back in 1997 and I never bothered taking pictures of stuff back then.
The steering colume was tilted a bit by shimming the mounts, the wheels were set up for the additional back space.
I do have both (1st & 2nd) frames at the shop, I can do some math this weekend if you guys like.

With a 74 Sub I would have to modify the Bumper horns. I think Ive talked myself into pulling what I have and rebuilding the bad spots with some 2x4 steel.

That almost sounds too easy!

If it isn't too much trouble, any additional light you can shine on the subject would be appreciated.
