on their street car? My steering box is only a year or sold old and when it was replaced the shop put in a slower box than what was in it when I purchased the car. When I took it back they tried to explain that they didnt do anything wrong and that the part was correct for the year vehicle I have.

Im thinking since my box is still so new I could purchase one of these quickeners rather than spend more money on a completely new box.

Any comments or suggestions?

Installing a steering quickener would be a beating since it needs to be solidly mounted up under the dash and there isn't room. Plus a newer box will be faster and have better feel.

A good piece of advice I was given was: "Sometimes your first loss is your best loss". It means better to take a loss on the box and just get a better one than trying other less viable methods to get around the problem. Make the best of it and sell your rebuilt box to someone who is restoring a stocker, it will fit lots of 60's and 70's cars.

I can't see why it would be a problem.

Actually a quickener is quicker, you can get them in 2:1 if 1.5:1 isn't quick enough.

You should be able to mount one of these somewhere:

Modifieds tear up steering boxes like crazy so using a quickener is much cheaper overall. We've never had one go bad even though quite a few boxes were replaced.
