Hey all new to the site and thought that I would say "Hey".

I have always loved the style of classic muscle cars and I hate most of the plastic fwd garbage that passes off as a car these days. However I also love cars that handle and new technology and have always worked on bringing the two together.

I have been with out a project car for several years and then about 2 months ago a new one fell in my lap. I was sitting in the bar talking to my uncles brother, he was getting ready to move and had to get rid of some cars he had sitting on his lawn. One of the cars was a 1980 Olds Cutlass, I asked him how much he wanted. He told me it was mine, so I hauled it off complete with title.

I car is rough and definitely a project but it has potential. It was originally a diesel but at some point the engine and trans were swapped out for a Pontiac 301 (from '78 so its a boat anchor) and a turbo 350. However with its diesel origins the car has a few aluminum parts like the hood and core support. Originally I thought about a 400 and Muncie 4spd for the car but now I'm leaning more in the direction of an LT1 or 5300 mated to a 6spd.

The suspension and brakes will be completely updated to handle autocross tracks.

I am a college student so I will be building on a budget but the fact I got the car for free means I'm ahead of the game.

Anyone around here building a G/A body?

d'oh! sorry about forgetting the pics! Not much has changed since these were taken except for some cleaning up. Shortly after this my garage got full so I can't drag it in to work on until I get that cleared, should be soon. My girlfriend is helping me with it. I'm collecting parts right now. Last thing I picked up was some aero mirrors from a later Cutty.

Here she is the day I dragged her home, fairly straight but missing front and rear bumpers.

Interior is fairly intact for a 29 year old car that has sat for 15 years.

The engine bay has been cleaned a little in this pic, originally you could not see a thing it was so full of weeds.

The trunk was full of all sorts of junk though I found out those spring are an old set of racing springs. Guess thats what happens when you get a car from a guy that raced these things.

Thanks again all for the welcome. There are some great looking cars on here I hope my Olds comes out half as good considering the budget I'm working with.
