I gotta give a big thank you to our fellow member Jeff Tate for a total hero play yesterday. Our Bull Run racer was on the forth leg of the Bull Run Rally running from Nashville to Taladega for a stop at the track and to do a couple laps, then they were headed to Atlanta for a over night stay. The guys got to the track, made their laps around Taladega (got thrown off the track but that is another story, LOL) and as the guys were leaving the track, the car developed a ignition switch problem and was acting fussy. The car did not want to start, was not cranking. They called me and we tried a few things over the phone and all of a sudden buy jiggling the switch........... it to fired up. It is a original harness and ignition switch. Sounds clearly like a 40 Y/O ignition switch problem to me!
The car owner and co driver Ted and James are great guys but are not mechanics at all. We needed to get to the next check point ASAP as this is a timed event. So I kind of needed someone that could go to the car. So I went through our member list to see who we had in Atlanta that could source a ignition switch and install a ignition at the hotel, I called Jeff Tate and he stepped right up. In no time he had the switch located and waiting for Ted in Atlanta when they arrived and then drove 50 miles to Ted's hotel, and stayed up till 11 o'clock installing the switch and trouble shooting. Turns out it actually was not the switch but was a weak connection in the factory harness neutral safety system right near the switch, which took a pretty impressive display of trouble shooting smarts.
So Jeff, nice find on the pesky connection and thanks so much for keeping the boys going. The friends that one makes on these forums is the best part of the internet as far as I am concerned.
Jeff, I owe you one!

Thanks Frank ,
I had a good time meeting Ted and seeing some of the BullRun cars ( and people).
That Chevelle is pretty awesome.
I'm glad I could help them get back on the road.
I hope my fix stays for the duration .
I didn't have a lot to work with on short notice.
And I didn't know what to expect.
So I was a little unprepared , but I got a fix in place.
Those BullRun contestants know how to have a good time.
It's like a rolling 120mph party at the nicest hotels (with the prettiest women around) in the country !!
I was impressed.
Good luck Ted !!!
And you know ...
I enjoy helping people and making new friends.
That IS what this website is about.. ( Friendship and Self-improvement )

Your not asaying there were any hotties around are you, LOL! Seems like Ferraris and Lambos really bring them out. They are traveling with a bus with 12 girls I swear came straight of the stage from Scores. And then many show up.
The Ted and James called and they were leading this morning, but that won't last long. There are guys getting tickets for 150MPH, 165MPH and multiple arrest. Ted won't drive that hard, but should top 10 today anyway.

They went to Alabama to a town i never heard of. They were Top 10 today! I am waiting to hear the final destination for the today. The rumor floating today is Bourbon St in New Orleans tomorrow. And as luck would have it I will be delivering anohter finished project to New Orleans tomorrow! So I will be able to chase the boys to the finsh.

You could get one of those plastic rings to remount the switch in the dash and take care of that while you're there.

Any clues which town in Alabama? Probably somewhere along I-10, which is coincidentally right where I am.

They ended up in Destin at a resort tonight. Ted and James finished 10 for the day which is incredible in the group they are running with.
They are headed to New Orleans tomorrow night to Bourbon St, and off to Austin for the finish Friday.
