Can you guy give me an opinion on this setup and let me know what you might change.. . I was going to up the memory to 8 GB and the hard drive to 1.28GB (or is the 750 gb just as good for me ). Soft ware office productivity software . optical drives to what they recomend. Keeboard to Logitec MX 5500. Thanks Wayne

What are you doing with this PC? If just surfing, email and office apps this is way over kill.
Which version of office depends on what you are going to do with it. For the drives I would stick to a single drive or configure the system for raid 1. How much space do you currently have is it full or even close if not the 650GB is probably fine. For optical just get a multi function drive the default one is fine. You might consider the upgrade with the roxio software, or not I prefer Nero. For the keyboard how far away are you going to set from you PC? Cordless is nice if you don't have a desk designed for a PC but unless this is a DVR and you sitting across the room why spend the extra cash for the price of the keyboard you could upgrade to the 24 inch monitor or a better video card.

In my opinion memory is never a bad choice if it's in the budget. As far as the hard drive , that's pretty big. Unless you have some severe storage needs I would save my money there. I have a 500g external($99) on sale at best buy. I have saved all my kids video and pics and backed up 3 computers on it and still have a ton of space left. I guess it just depends on your needs?? Can't go wrong with a bigger screen.

yea you dont need more memory or that much drive space - if they have a faster drive option you can go for that as it will heavily impact performance to go for a faster spindle speed - you could also opt to go for the raid 0 set up they have to make it faster or the raid1 to make sure you dont lose your data in the event of a drive failure if you are not psycho about your backups which most people are not.
but you should be psycho about backups......

I do mostly surfing and sometimes listen to internet radio. Right now I have an ancient Dell 4500 and its driving me nuts. it only pentium 4 cpu 2.4 ghz hard drive and 512 ram . Its tiny and freezes up. I have to clean it five times a day or it won't run and thats not an exaggeration.

I'm older and I can only point and click and sometime not even that.

If that is all you're doing with this new PC then your initial choice is overkill.
You should consider going with the $599 studio desktop model and upgrade to a 24 inch monitor for $160 and upgrade to Office Home for $99. You'll appreciate the added monitor space. If you expect more multi-tasking down the road then upgrade the memory to 4gb for $75 but that is probably overkill for you.

Too bad me and buddy just priced out a new setup for fellow church memember and minus case it came in just over $200 minus OS.
As for me dump the Dell and anything Intel, for $1000 I could build you a great box fit for gaming, but unless you are in dire need put money in bank, wait till winter and Windows 7 it makes Vista look like mud. I already preordered my copies of 7.
As for a computer you can better bang for the buck by going with AMD processors.
Oh and unless you go 64 bit computing OS the 8 gig is useless.

Dell is all we use for our school Districts due to their support. Get the best video card and fastest processor. It's easy to get sucked into too much memory and hard drive. An external hard drive (cheap) is always good , especially for backup.

I agree. This setup sounds perfect for what he is wanting. I built my computer last year. It's about 1000x overkill for most people but I do a lot of graphics and video editing so mine has too be overkill.
