I have a 1978 camaro, i want an aluminum air dam. I want the look to be a cross between this

And this

But the problem is that there are a lot of contours under the nose of my car, the cars above aver fairly even all the way across.

See how many contours there are??? and I also have the problem of the nose being urethane. I noticed while trying to make one out of cardboard today that there are some holes under the nose, so I think the air dam will help scoop up the air into them giving more flow in the engine bay.

So any advice will be helpful!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS I know my car aint exactly a looker right now, but I have plenty of plans for it, I just figured this is a good project when I am tired of fixing the rust in the car.

FWIW, the air dam will also help keep air from getting under the car, creating a vacuum, which will help suck the air out of the engine compartment (and through the radiator). So yeah, it is a good idea.

How fast are you planning on going with the car? Any track useage?

I have been mulling over the idea for a while on my 78 also. i mocked up a couple of ideas in cardboard on the car and couldn't come up with anything i liked with the body shape.

I would like to see what you come up with.

Not as fast as you!! LOL!!!

As of now no track time, But when I get my 5.3L in I want to take it to Limerock PArk, nothing fancy just doing this stuff for fun, in a few years though I expect to hit the track more and more.

Yeah the shape of these cars are hard to get anything that looks good, I think It is just going to be a lot of trial and error, I wish someone that made one could give a few pointers.

hey getmore nice to see another Nasty member!

You could go with an IROC nose like this.

I use to love that, still do, but I am going for a different look. I like the little brackets and the aluminum.
