Engine is close to being completed and still have a few things I need ...So this is what I got and any suggestions would be great.
SBC 400 going into 69 Camaro with 700R4 trans should be around 525-550HP soon will see on the dyno. Not sure of the exhaust and header set up I want or should use. I assume a good stepped header but what size to start with 1 5/8 and how about exhaust 2.5 oe 3 inch what brand headers, again suggestions welcome
What heads are on the engine? What is your power band going to look like? For an all around street driven car with a broad power band, I'd go just simple 1-3/4" primaries into a 3in collector. I wouldn't worry about stepped but I don't build high RPM engines. dual 2.5" with an x would work well for the exhaust too.

Thanks that is what I was looking for...Have Dart Iron eagle heads should be a good running street car...
1-3/4" primaries will be fine. I've just finished a C5 that's heads/cam/magnacharger. It should be around 500 hp at the wheels. The last combination minus heads was at 460. 1-3/4" primary headers are whats on the car now and what was on the car when making 460 rwhp.

Stahl headers are great, his stuff is pricey but not as high as Kook's. I would talk to Jere Stahl (pronounced Jerry) about your combo and let him make some recommendations. If it was my car I would probably go with 1 3/4" primary and a 3" merge collector. This is just a guess because of the lack of information.

Thanks guys sounds like 1 3/4 primaries with 2.5 exhaust with X pipe should work great for a street car..I just want to use good parts and not have to do the job twice....Sorry for not including all the engine specs don't have everything here at work but I thank you guys fo the input...

I used DynaTech headers in my 68. They fit perfect. They step up from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8.

Have any pics? No clearance issues at all? Are you running an auto or manual trans?
