So I am pondering buying somthing like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-Chevrolet-Corvette-drivetrain-LS2-street-hot-rod_W0QQitemZ170280474152QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors _Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item27a581d628&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A12|39%3A1|72%3A1171

Instead of just a motor trans dropout. So Figure it may save me some cash in the long run. My question is since I am buying a new rear housing anyway and I am not a big fan of those thick wheel adapters,
Could a get the Vette wheels to work without 5 inch thick adapters by ordering a longer rear?

Or will that be too long or require costly $$ extral long axles?

Yes, you can get a wider housing, and no, I don't think it'd cost any more.
Not sure what car you're planning on installing this in, but sometimes a different car woill have the correct setup. ie: A Cadillac Seville rear might work in place of a Camaro rear. The perches might be in the right place, and the Caddy is wider.

However, since that 'Vette uses a transaxle I'm not sure how you'd use a solid rear and that trans. It looks like you're going to have to buy a different transmission anyway.

If you are going to be running a solid rear, it seems like you are really wasting money if you bought a rolling 'Vette chassis.

It'd be cheaper to buy the engine, than buy a CTS-V or GTO or F-Body or other T56...
