As the title says I am in the process of removing a 5.3 and 4l60 from a truck and I need to know how much of the harness do I need to get. I have the computer and the engine fuse box disconnected but do I need to get everything under the dash and the other fuse box as well? Currently my car is stripped to bare bones, could I use the truck's harness to wire my car? Thanks for the replies.

I'd just get the harness for the engine and trans. Maybe grab the underhood fuse box too and call it done.

Don't forget the O2 sensors. They're not cheap.

Got the O2's, fuse box and computer. Do I need the port that is under the steering wheel for tuning?

Yes.

If you can get it all without too much trouble, take it. You can always gut out what you don't want. It is much harder, and more expensive, to add in circuits.

If given the opportunity and space availabitly, I'd run the underhood fuse system in a heartbeat.

The truck harness should work out well. It is long enough to put the ECM in the passenger compartment or in the front of the engine compartment.

Thanks guys. I had to cut the harness at the firewall. I am going to snatch the OBD port and dash fuse box tomorrow when I finish pulling the motor and tranny.

don't forget the tach module and the pedal assembly. if it is a drive by wire. and the mass airflow. i had a guy in indiana take the factory harness and make a new streamlined harness.let me know if you need this guys # it was about $400 good luck.

Take as MUCH of the wiring as you can. You can always throw away what you don't use:)
