I recently purchased solid body mounts for my 68 Camaro and went to install them today and the rear subframe and firewall bushings went in just fine, but the front radiator support one does not fit in the hole on the radiator support. It looks to be close to 3/8" total to big!!! I put it in place lowered to body down and drew with a marker on the bushing and there is about 1/8-1/4 all around. Has anybody else had this problem? Should I just file down the bushing or try to open the hole up bigger? What would be the best way to do this?

THX in advance..

On the second gens, the front body mounts are not the same size as the two rear ones. Could this also be the situation with the first gens and you've accidentally put the front bushings in the rear? The bushings should fit the holes snugly

we have had customers run into issues as well with the front holes being different from one car to another, seems GM could not make up their mind as to what size the hole shold be, but I must say that the most we've seen is around .080

Yeah that seems to be the case with mine, it was a 6 cylinder car originally, maybe that's part of it, who knows... Should I just file down the bushing then to get it to fit? What have you done in the past when you come across this situation?

On my 69 I used a die grinder to enlarge the core support hole.

the early 2nd gens hole is smaller, Mr. PTFB was beeing humble, his installation sheets tell you you may need to enlarge the hole.

Thanks Rick, opened the holes up on the radiator support and they went right in.

I was gonna say... there hasnt been a single first gen that I did not have to open the holes up on for the core support bushings... and that is in-part, of the design.

Anyone have problems getting the original bolts out ? Im ordering my bushings for my Nova soon and i am hoping they don't break when i wrench on them. I have been spraying them with PB Blaster everytime i go and work on my car. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated, thank everyone .

a little heat couldn't hurt either... use and impact gun and try and tighten them first to help break them loose...

On my 69 I used a die grinder to enlarge the core support hole.
I had to do that on my 70 camaro too.....but I was warned by (PTFB) Dave about that ahead of time.
