Just got a letter from General Racing, there will be no Vintage Trans-Am class at the 2009 Monterey Historics, also no F1 class.

Is it due to lack of entries? I love the Trans-Am cars.

The T/A cars seem to attend MH every other year. They are at WCC annually.

Been that way for years and Mr. Earle seems to be doing just fine.

The featured marque is Porsche this year. No shortage of support for that brand.

I'll decide if I'm going when the entry list starts to fill out a bit more.

The same thing (no Trans-Am race) was done the last time Porsche was the featured marque in 1998, and you're 100% right about the strong support group. In fact I've heard that there is a chance that the event tickets will sell out in advance. There's always plenty of good VARA B-Prod and A-Sedan(Trans-Am) racing events to attend throughout the year here in CA.
So I guess we'll just look forward to seeing next year's Monterey agenda.

Don't forget, the Wine Country Classic has the T/A guys every year. Seems like on Monterey's off-years they get a much larger field as well.

You are correct there True,Steve Earle has run it this way for years.
It's pretty simple for me...no T/A cars=no attendance for me and my friends.

Even though I live here,I'd much rather attend the WCC event...much more laid-back than the uptight Historics...my opinion.
There's just so damn much to see and do here during an almost 2-week period that it really is THE PLACE TO BE ON EARTH if you like all things automotive.

If you do decide to go,make sure you buy your tickets in advance because day of the event, they jack up the prices bigtime...$60-$80 for Saturday (Sunday is the PB Concours and is a light attendance day @ Laguna)...and no Trans-Am cars.

Well , I love vintage sports car racing.
But , I really want to see Vintage Trans Am and Historic Can-Am cars.
So , I'm gonna' wait till more show up.

I was hoping , since the Monterey Historics featured Porsche this year , that a lot of the 917/10's and some 917/30's would show up.
But , I heard that a lot of them were not.

So , maybe I'll get to the Historic Can-Am at Road America in 2010.
( They skip every other year, so there's not one in '09 )
And I'll see some vintage Trans-Am at some point.

I was hoping to see Vintage Trans-Am and Historic Can-Am at the same event , but alas , it was not meant to be. :crying:
