Okay, so I'm putting my steering column back together.

It seems pretty straightforward. The column attaches to the car, the collar goes on, slides down, and then rotates 1/16th turn counterclockwise - some little nubs keep it in place at that point:

(before rotating, nubs at 1, 5, and 9 o'clock)

Rotated:

The upper carrier with the bearing has two tabs, that appear to fit in the notches at 11 and 5 o'clock (there's only the two tabs and the two notches, so pretty sure this is right):

However, when I put the carrier in with the tabs in the notches, the turn signal lever doesn't even begin to line up with the hole in the collar it's supposed to go into:

I'm not seeing a way to adjust where the collar goes in relation to the switch, unless it doesn't really go together like I have it. The collar will NOT rotate more than about 1/16th turn clockwise, so it's not a matter of going the other way with it and it seems like catching behind the nubs is the way it should be... so what am I missing?
