I'm going to the Grand Am Rolex Series race at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham Alabama on July 18th and 19th.
The Koni Series showroom stock cars will be running on Saturday the 18th and the Rolex Series Daytona Prototypes and GT cars will be running on Sunday the 19th .
I can't wait !!!
Real road-racing !!
Is anybody else going ?????

By the Way ,
The race was incredible !!
Barber Motorsports Park is the nicest venue to see a race that I have ever been to.
The place is immaculately groomed like a golf course.
It's like going to Augusta National or Callaway Gardens.
And the staff keeps the place clean at all times.
(They constantly empty the trash cans and clean the porta-johns.)
It's like a 5-star restaurant or something.
Plus, a large portion of the track viewing area is wooded and shaded .
So you don't have to bake in the sun to watch the race.
And the Racing !!
The Grand Am series is the closest thing to the old Can-Am and Trans-Am series' , that we can get nowdays.
There is just something about American V-8 powered prototypes and factory V-8 coupes that just thrills me.
Of course , there are other powerplants too , like Porsche and Lexus .
But , seeing the Koni Series GS cars roll down the back stretch , and seeing all those Mustangs a Porsches reminded me of the golden age of the Trans-Am series all over again !!
The Daytona Prototypes are kinda like the Can-Am cars.
( Just with a few restrictions for cost and safety )
Plus , I got to see David Donohue and Alex Gurney race in the same series.
I idolize their fathers and was stoked to get to meet them both !
I also got to meet Hurley Haywood. ( A legend of Can-Am and Trans-Am )
He was really cool.
Anyway , if any of you get a chance to go see this series , you should.
It's worth it .

I watched it on Speed. Awesome race. DP racing is my favorite of all types.

It rules .
I think I may like it even more than American LeMans Series because it's mostly American drivers / cars and powerplants.
I got some pics and video too.
I'll see if I can post them ....

I like the fact they look like B2 Bomber cockpits on 4 wheels. Seriously, I have been drooling for awhile over a FF GTM kit
