View Full Version : This'd be a nice home for those new 800 hp 427 Cammer's in Hot Rod.

Amazing to me that the 'long dead' 427 SOHC is once again Alive! Here's an often overlooked car, certainly by us lat-g/pro-t types, that one of those new Cammers would look good in. Nice job dressing up the '429 in this one though. I also like the frenched headlight buckets and the Merc tailights on this '55.

Nice,
That doesn't even look like a 429 .
But , then again , I know very little about the Ford engines.
You've got a good idea there.
The 427 Cammers would go good in that type of car.

Nice car, but don't like the headlights. Doesn't flow well IMO.

That's a great looking car - but that's definitely not a Cammer engine.

this is

505... dove block and heads built by Kurt Neighbor
going in a 67 mustang we're building for a guy in VA beach
high rev's and good power... but you gotta love the "what the hell is that out of? "

Nice job dressing up the '429 in this one though.

Great car!

As much as I love the SOHC motors, a late model blown 5.4 DOHC would fit in that car very well ;)

Awesome. Engine is a little "blingy"... could be bigger... and the interior is a little shiny.

Agree about the bling. Of course its a great looking street rod/custom.

I've only come across a handful of mid 50's Fords, Chevys, Buicks, Olds, Pontiacs, Mopars and other misc. makes that have been built with real pro-touring capabilites. So far...

That car is very nice! There are only like 4 polished pieces on the engine so not too sure about being blingy? The headlight surround is stock and looks ok to me?

Has anyone got one of those Dove Cammers up and going? Lots of talk about them.

I have a 03 Cobra blower engine in a 51 Ford and honestly the SOHC and the BOSS 429 are better choices and easier to package in a retro car. Kind of a waste of time but looks great when hood is popped.

Brian, your '51 must really move, those are light cars if I remember correctly.

hmmmmm.... i had to look at that engine picture for a while. air cover piece needs to be black on the sides of the fins instead of chrome to match the valve covers... or something along those lines. maybe brushed/matching acc drives. then it could go with the wheels.

i'm like 90% there on wheels but i think the spokes should be polished. i'm not trying to be too picky or anything... the stance, wheel size/exterior/design is 100%
