Hey this is my first car i've ever done and need some advice. 2 months ago I bought a 68 Camaro all original besides a coat of paint. Now i have the thing gutted and starting to put new parts on but have a few questions: 1) about to pull the trigger on an Ls2 with a t-56 out of a wrecked GTO and need to know what else i need for the install? I've looked at all the other threads pertaining to this set up and am getting the cross member and clutch kit from ATS and prob the motor mounts too. The thing i'm most worried about is A/C compressor. I don't want to notch the frame, i've heard S&P has a braket i can use? Also what should i do about the programing on the engine? I haven't had much luck finding a place and I don't want to drop a grand buying a new harness/computer. 2) I'm about to order wheels either today or tomarrow I'm thinking of going with 18's. For those that run 18's hows the ride? And what back spacing should i use? My goal is to get the widest tire on the back (have a stock set up front and back) so what are my options?

Welcome to the site, Chris. From your questions you definitely seem to be in the right place.

I don't have a Camaro so I can't give direct answers to your questions, but I can give some advice:

1. Break your post into several questions and put each in the appropriate section; the LSx swap experts may not watch the Welcome forum, etc.

2. Do a search. There's lots of folks who have done what you're doing and some of your questions are likely already answered.

3. On the wheels - tolerances weren't particularly tight when our cars were new, and 40 years takes its toll on a car. Your best bet on getting the proper backspacing is to measure your particular car as other folks may have more or less room.

OMG - was that Bad Penny's gandma? j/k :)

Welcome.

Call Frank @ Prodigy. A link to his website is to the right --> He offers free consultation to board members, and should be able to get you any parts you need.
