Have any of you convertible guys switched from the factory hydraulic pump/ram setup to electric actuators? Sure seems like an easy and worthwhile mod to do, any issues if you have?

Thanks,
Charlie

I've thought about it, but I would be worried about synchronizing the speed of the two units, as well as their ability to lift a very heavy top frame.

I don't think the weight is an issue, my entire top assembly is out of the car right now, and I'd say it might weigh 100lbs or so. (2) 200lb capacity actuators should more than handle the weight.

Synchronization is something I've not considered, which the stock setup certainly does. I don't have any experience with actuators so I don't know how "close" you could expect them to operate.

Any other ideas?

Charlie

I have a 72 Chevelle conv., owned it for more than 20 yrs, never even checked the fluid (knocking on wood). I think you're trying to find a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. A hyd. system in good shape will be very reliable. Why reinvent the wheel? Jim.
