I'm removing my automatic trans from my 69 camaro.I'm installing a Tremec 5 speed. The neutral saftey switch was removed with the console and the floor shifter. I'm not going to re-install the console. I'm not too in need of the neutral saftey switch. Am I going to have to fool the car into thinking there is a switch there? I figured I would probably have to put a jumper at the plug that goes to feed the console. Also, the linkage from the column that was actuated by the floor shifter is removed. Can you guys point me in the right direction so the car will start and be happy electricaly when I get done with the trans.............Thanks guys.............Mike

I think the neutral saftey switch is on the clutch pedal. It clips to the pedal when its depressed it lets the car start . When the clutch pedal is up it won't let it start. Something that happen to me . When I was 17 I swapped a 4 spd for an auto in my 69. I didn't put in the neutral saftey switch. One day I started the car in drive ,the car lunged and hit the car in front of me .It cost me a grill and header panel luckally no one got hurt. I installed one after that. Check out the one that goes bon the pedal it not too much trouble.

What I'm trying to find out now, is weather the car will start or not with the neutral safety switch that was on my automatic removed.

I converted my car from a TH350 to a TKO-600 and never put a neutral safety switch in. Car starts fine without it. I always leave it in neutral and never let anyone drive my car, so it's not a problem for me.

When I was 15 my dad got some new exhaust, he told me to jump in his car and start it, when I did, ran right into my moms car. Nothing was damaged, but I have never not made sure that a car was in neutral before starting it up.
