Well, I have about a billion things going on, what with the need to get our house ready for a move to Tennessee next March, so I thought I'd buy another car!

Here is my 1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe.

The body is in great shape, and I think the paint will even buff up. The interior is a bit tired, and some previous hack "removed" the A/C with a saw, but I have procured the appropriate parts to bring all that back in line.

Future plans will be for a little more boost, water/alcohol injection, and maybe an IRS from a Mustang Cobra.

Between this car and my parts car I have most of the really good options including keyless entry, 6-way power seats, etc. One option it doesn't have is a power moonroof. I'll be checking out the salvage yards for a modern aftermarket unit to let the sunshine in.

If anyone has any advice or ideas, let me know. I'm new to this whole "turbo" thing, so I'm sure I'll need some help!

Nice find. I really like that year and model. My old boss bought a new one exactly like your picture. It was an automatic Turbo Coupe. Was a nice driving car, but I would have a 5 speed myself.

Maybe a little drop in the suspension and leave it alone. I even like the factory wheels.

Can I ask what you spent on it?

lots of potential. I remember driving the mercury version someone had back when; slow as death w/ an auto. when you look up 'turbo lag' in the dictionary, it had a picture of that car.
there's a guy on here w/ a merkur xr4ti, I've sure he could help.

Oh yeah, it's a 5-speed... had to be!

Total investment at this point it $2900, including the car pictured here and my parts car, which should, for the most part, get it on the road and legal. However, as I plan on selling off all of the parts car not needed, the price should come down a fair bit.

Those can be fun. A friend has the motor from a TTB in his Pinto. The car is quick.

Ah! I was a little dense last night... spent a good bit of the day on the roof, in the sun, putting up siding. Can you say "roast?"

Yesterday evening I washed down the engine compartment of the keeper car. looks pretty nice in there! Today I will do the same for the parts car.

I'll start up a project thread and keep track of my progress for everyone.

I have an '87 Turbo Coupe parts car with a running 2.3. You would have to come get it though as the shipping would be a little silly!
