View Full Version : From Duramax to LSX

I started the Camaro/Duramax build thread a while back seen here. https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46534
Long story short, it didn't go as planned. I now have new plans. Here is where I am at. I am now going with one of Nelson's twin turbo lsx group purchase engines. Tom sent me some headers/turbos for mock up. Let me know what you think.

Schwartz full frame

- 14" front rotors with wilwood 6 piston calipers
- 13" rear rotors with wilwood 4 piston calipers
- sweet manufactering power steering rack with integral servo with braided lines
- splined front and rear sway bar shafts with aluminum sway bar ends
- front end was widened 1" on each side from stock strong arm lower control arms tubular upper control arms with threaded ball joints
- rear end is a moser ford 9" with circle track style hubs with back brace has nodular case with 3:55 posi and moser axles and has been narrowed 1" from stock
- triangulated 4-link rear suspension with QA1 polished heims
- Wheels are Kinesis. The rears are 18x14.5 with 8.5 back spacing with 345/30/19 Michelin pilot sport radial x's. The fronts are 18x10 with 275/35/18 Michelin pilot sport radial x's.

It is coming along. I powder coated the frame and ryno lined the wheel wells, trunk, floor, underside of the car, etc.

class 100%. wow. I may have to steal this to photoshop a rendering of my car.

I don't think i've ever liked a single red camaro. The color really pops and isn't too orange. you think 'is that red or orange' and then it's obvious that it's red. who needs flake to do that!


wheels are 100% perfect and look great with all the other exterior accent stuff. what are your plans for the interior?

Thanks for the compliments. The red is from the Silverado SS trucks. Interior is up in the air right now. Probably some corbeau seats, and custom panels, gauges, etc. Nothing to crazy. I want to drive this thing!

Nice job tom. I like it a lot. The red is very similar to the red I'm painting mine (viper red on top of a white sealer). I'm glad to see you got the motor you wanted for it (didn't I mention NRE to you when I picked up the dmax? Maybe not, but I'd like to think that I had something to do with the twin turbo idea...
