Green70
08-02-2009, 03:31 PM
sorry its been a while ran into a few minor setbacks to answer some quick questions

1badchevelle: it has a full global west front and rear setup with QA1 coilovers up front and QA1 adjustable shocks out back/ the LS brakes werent to bad i dont fully remember but i knnow we had to shim the calipers out to center over the rotors and i still havent messed with hooking up e-brake cables yet.

hechtrod: its a fully built turbo 400 for now, till my money tree starts growing leaves again then im looking 6spd.

nitrovette: thanks man i love the green mist, what most made me want to go back to it was that so many people told me they hated it...... but i think i might change some minds with the slight twist we put on it.

Boyd: yes she is a painter, and yes i am lucky! thank you.

thanks for the rest of the comments guys. now for some pics

thanks guys, Brandi is very happy you guys are impressed with her paint skillz, she was a bit nervous since it was only her 2nd overall paintjob but i think it looks fantastic! i think my dad almost fell over when he saw it lol

I do plan on hitting an autoX track some day after i get $ to swap out the old crusty bald GSC's for something stickier, maybe drag radials? since it will smoke the goodyears in 2nd gear with a medium throttle hit (yes i do drive it up my street sometimes hehe)

slightly better pic of the pearl but not great cuz still no bright sun
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/0191-1.jpg

01somta: thanks, more support for green mist!

tones2SS: he should slam it on some 335/30/18s cuz it has massive wheelwells it would make an awesome protouring car but what do i know im the younger brother. i think he wants to make it a street/strip car.

TPI Monte SS: thanks man, I love your monte that thing is clean! we'll have to meet up some day.

well ive been working hard on the car but my wifey has me doing alot of house projects lately. The main thing was to install some plastic inner fenders from "the parts place" supposedly the "best" of the plastic inners made.

they look nice out of the box
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/010-1.jpg

underside
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/016-1.jpg

top side notice i painted the lower portion of the fenders black instead of green like original for a cleaner more subtle engine bay.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/0132-1.jpg

well it took nearly 2-3 hrs a piece! to install these bitches and make them look/fit like they should :hammer:
Tools needed to install reads: :here!: 1/2" socket and rachet, drill and bits, a die grinder with reamer attachment (lord knows they barely got a single hole in the right place) alot of curse words, and a 30 pack of beer. not to mention i had to drill holes for the battery tray and the holes where the marker light wires run through.

me and my great ideas of running the lighter inner fenders :banghead:

Looks like your makin some progress there Ant. WTF are the 2 silver circle things in the wheelwell in the 2nd pic? Oh and BTW 335/30/18's are way too short for the '73 Im thinkin 315/35/20's or I just found out that Michelin has 335/30/20's :hail: . But the damned things are almost $500 each  One of these weekends I will get up there and give you a hand, plus I still have the hard drive and other crap I gotta give you.

drivers side
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/039-1.jpg

up close grille shot, i removed the trim and painted it black. I think it looks alot meaner without the trim.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/042-1.jpg

pass. side. Ignore the wet sanded spot there was some solvent pop brandi was making sure wet sanding would take care of or if she'd have to repaint the spot.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/044-1.jpg

just another pretty shot from the front.

yea i forgot the center caps cuz i got a lil excited but im thinkin i may smooth out the inside there and have brandi paint em again cuz i think the center caps are a bit goofy lookin.

it does sound good but loud! all it has are some hooker header mufflers on there right now, you can see em hangin it the one pic.

A nice burnout will be in order to send off the dryrotted GSC's when i get my new tires.

since i had 2 of my fun rides out yesterday figured i take a pic.

Beautiful job! My first car when I was 17 was a perfect Light Mist Green Metallic '70 Chevelle SS396. It was also a rare care, because it was unusually optioned. For example, it had Factory Air, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Automatic with Column Shift and a BENCH SEAT! Since this was the standard Chevelle seat style, it came in a type of "cloth" material rarely seen in an SS. Most Super Sports that year were ordered with vinyl-covered bucket seats and the center console. The seats and full Vinyl Roof (another option) were "Dark Forest Green". Also, the car was NOT ordered with the "Cowl Induction" option, so it came with the basic "domed" SS hood, but no "Rally Stripes", "Cowl Induction" lettering, or cowl "flapper" door. When I bought the car in 1974, it had only 15,000 miles on it and I paid a mere $1,500 for it! OMG!! Although yours is not an SS, it is probably as close as I'll ever get to seeing a car like mine again. (I also owned and restored a NUMBERS-MATCHING '70 LS5 SS454/4-speed in the mid '80's. It was exactly like the car in all the Chevrolet Chevelle SS brochures in 1970 - Cranberry Red with Cowl Hood & Black SS Stripes....)
