Im taking on my next paint project. My friend Mitch's (vannatta20) 1968 Firebird. It is currently in the primer stage. Final color will be a dark gunmetal metallic. Let me know what you think.

I beleive the owner purchased the panels off Ebay but im not sure. From what it looks like they fit pretty well. I should have some more update pics up tomarrow. Its all wet sanded and just finishing last little bodywork.

Its a sherman williams planet color paint. It was one of the few charcoal colors I saw in their book. The paint color is called Gunmetal...

Brian finished polishing and now I have the car back. Last night we had a light rain so no pics. When I get home I will pull it out in the sun and snap some pics. It looks great!

thanks, I swept it out and then hosed it out, thats about it. Its not the best environment to paint in but it works.

lol yeah its going to be lowered once all the bugs are worked out of it. Its just high right now so its easy to crawl under to work on.

I like how you cleaned up all of the body lines in the back. I did the same along with the bottom rocker/quarter. That is some huge metal flake with no modeling. Great job on spraying the paint. Like mentioned before what are you doing for a gas filler tube? Any idea why the whole is in the rear panel where the license plate goes?

Thanks. The metallic laid out pretty nicely. I agree it looks much better without all the rear body seams. I know the owner plans on having the gas filler neck flush mounted in the trunk and yes, the rear bumper will be painted body color but im not sure about the window trim yet.

I am planning on leaving the trim chrome for now. I put the front windshield moldings on and they look great. Should have the door on tomorrow and I will post some pics of the car.

You got the edges of the door to look real nice. I think i finally have all the edges round on one door, yeah just one, for my camaro and it has taken so many coats to not burn through.

Paint looks a bit cloudy right there over on the rear quarter...LOL



I love the smell of fresh paint!....Hurry up and get it all back together and take some more pics of that youngin' yanking on the wheel of that beast and making motor noises.

There is alot of farm fields out there Ha Ha. BTW the car looks good, I was wondering how it would look with the chrome on it and I like it. I am thinking about a color that is close to that and putting black racing stripes on it.

unfortunately the bird is parked for now cause the owner is out of town for a while. Sucks cause it would have been alot of fun to take it out to the cruise.

the engine is an LQ4 bottom end with a set of L92 heads, LS3 intake and a Comp cam with .600" lift and 226/230 dur at .050" She runs and sounds awsome!

Thanks, I think it gives the car a subtle smooth look. We also shaved the seams near the back window also.
