So GAS (Galpin Auto Sports) just finished these cars for the US Air Force as recruitment tools. Kinda cool! especially the Mustang.

I like the wheels on the Mustang. If you put those on the Challenger it would look a lot better.

The "Lambo" door SUCK unless they are on a Lamborghini!! Is the Mustang even drivable?? Challenger, same thing on the doors and the wheels have GOT to GO.

I'd like to see them do a Trans Am, basically since the bird would work on it.

I dig these cars! Agree, the Challenger wheels are lame. The Mustang Interior is wack! But cool for what they are.
My personal taste is more Foose's P32 Roadster and a WWII Warbird theme.

Similar for "sick".

This is a huge waste of Tax Payer funds. Looks like the Air Force needs a serious budget review.

i think there pretty badass. and for what the cost i'm sure it only used about a hundreth of a penny per tax payer to build.

06-05-2009, 09:05 AM
and how exactly are these used to recruit?

but where should that money go? to the soldier/airman/sailor/marine, to equipment, to maintenance, or to something completely worthless? the only bigger constant waste of money is congress giving itself another golf club.
thetoystore
06-05-2009, 11:02 AM
true the money could go somewere else but that does'nt mean it should. if these two cars get attention of just a few young men or women and they decide to join the air force to serve are country is'nt it worth it? these cars work the same way as when i was on spring break in panama. the navy the army and the air force had huge tints and stages set up on the beach throwing concerts, games and whatnot for us just to draw attention to them. you have to draw attention in whatever way you can. i'll be honest if i seen one of these cars at a car show i'd walk up and look at it just like you would

if they are going to use these cars for recruitment, then they should be out there thrashing on them to show how much better they are than the competition.

A raptor costs 33 million I believe...these did not affect the overall budget too much...
I saw the mustang at the jones beach air show, it looked pretty cool.

using show cars to get you to join a branch of the military reminds me a lot of using cartoon characters to sell cigarettes...

I hate the frackin' chAir Force.
They get the biggest budget, eat steak and lobster at lunch, veal for dinner, have the hottest chics, and goofiest uniforms.

What makes or breaks the lambo style door is whether or not they shut like actual lambo doors. if they have to pop out a bit and then go up for the sake of utilizing the stock latching system, then it's lame. If not, then good job.

That's a good one BV. If you like the Bandito Brothers production of the SWCC guys you'll like thier new SEAL video. They are in production now so no telling when it will be out. It didn't take them too long from when they shot the SWCC film to YT. Maybe this fall.
I'll post it up when I hear/see something.
Mr.V, why mess around with .50 cal semi-auto's when the GAU (SWCC vid) is where it's at? Much more impressive sound. It sounds like God smiting the wicked when that thing goes off. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhpp!

I gotta say I like the aircraft feel of the cars but being an ex-AF guy and as much of an aircraft nut as a car nut I'm a little biased. I'm giving my mustang some aircraft influence interior-wise though not as radical by far, only slight hints.

I personnally prefer the 30mm GAU-8A in the A-10. You gotta checkout the A-10 videos here: http://shock.military.com/Shock/search.do;jsessionid=8DCD2208537D7293874A0D9823793 66F?skw=A-10&submit.x=17&submit.y=12

Saw the Mustang in person in Times Square 2 weeks ago. They had it in front of the recruiting station there and would fire it up and rev the thing to the moon every 1/2 hour or so. Sounded damn good! Especially with the sound bouncing off the tall buildings in Times Square.

NSWC uses the Dillon Aero GAU-17. Nothing like standing behind one when it lights off. Even being in the field of fire on the riverbank when it's loaded with blanks is pretty earth moving.
When I was in my old Battalion we were doing a Field Exercise at an Army post. We were charged with holding a FOB a few miles away from an A-10 range.
We started hearing this funny noise and soon found out it was the mini's. Everyone in my gun loop was gazing at the A-10s making runs on the range and the GySgt comes over to biatch us out. He said basically, "What the Fu%$, What are you knuckleheads doing."
I had to reply that we had just called in close air support. We could relax now, the A-10's were keeping the (imaginary)enemy busy. :smoke:

Or puching holes in people. :lol
When I was a kid, I saw these rifles used in the movie robocop and wanted to shoot one then. Little did I know I'd be an operator behind one some day. Cool ****.

Each car = 2x the cost to train a soldier. Extremely insignificant. If they get 20 people I'm sure it'd be a good investment.

I'd actually consider buying a mustang if it looked remotely like that (gasp).
Don't care tooo much for the turn signals indent in the bumper (should match with the lights, or the fogs should be moved out and the lower grill lengthened), lambo doors. I also think the scoop dents should not have been angled.
