I decide to go ahead and make a new topic in the project update section to show the progres on the car. Here is the link to the original topic with the first set of pictures.

I got the motor on the subframe and started to install the control arms and steering linkage. I will post pics later this afternoon.

I'm looking forward to the color contrast of the control arms to the frame. It should look pretty nice. Or did you have them powder coated to match the frame? I'm on the fence if I'm going to paint my frame and under carriage satin black like the factory did or go gloss black so all of the components match.

Well I got the motor on the subframe and the upper and lower control arms on the subframe. Got to finish tightening up a few bolts and install the tierods and the front should be done. I installed the hotchkis springs without the lower isolators but decided to go ahead and put the isolators in. It just seemed like the lower part of the spring would start to make noise and shift around in the spring pocket. What do yall think about the isolators???

Will be ordering the wheels on monday. Thinking about the Boze Injected in 19x8 up front and 20x10 in the rear. Got a few more pics of the subframe and will have some tomorrow with the brakes on the front. Still debating on a suspension for the rear. Any recommendations anyone?

Finally got the subframe done with the brakes and all the steering components. Wheels have been ordered along with a new moser rear differential and a gbar will be ordered next week. Getting ideas on the interior but its hard to get shops to give you a solid price!!
Here are a few pics of the finished subframe. Will get better pics when I mount the subframe back to the body this weekend..

that safety wire is wrong. the top bolt is right the bottom bolt has to have the wire comming out of the left side. so both side are pulling clock wise. email me if you dont get what i'm saying. =

Thanks guys for the great comments. Its been along time coming to get to this point. Just waiting on the painter to finish a few minor details and I should have it back in my possession to start putting it back together. He is a bad a** painter just hard to get him to meet deadlines. About ready to pull it out from him and have it finished else wear. Kind stuck on using polished valve covers or the fabricated aluminum ones. What yall think?

Willieboy240 thanks for the heads up on the safety wire. Never done it before and just couldn't grab the concept well with the holes being in different spots. Will email you to see if you can better explain how to do the wiring correctly. Thanks again

Once I get it done you are more than welcomed to check it out. He is a local guy that has been undercover the last fews years. He did a lot of lowriders back in the days and custom bikes. He just never had the right business mind or help to get his shop out there and recognized. Been thinking about opening something up and just hire him on to do the art work. My car is not even half of his talent. Boy gots skills just cant get on his feet..

Still can't get the car out of paint prison. Damn good painter just gots alot of personal issues. Took a week off from work to get some progress done on the car and now I don't even have the car in my hands yet. Very tempted to pull it from him but might just go and hold his hand for the next two days and get it finished. Got new rear differential being shipped and a rear prodigy bar. Also got the wheels on order but still no car. What to do?

Like you said, go hold his hand to make sure it gets done. Tell him you have parts coming in and are ready to take it to the next build stage.

Just left the paint shop. Going to do a bolt on hood with smaller cowl instead of the lift off hood that is done already. Going to hold his hand all week and get it done. Going to have to do some work on the car at his shop to get something accomplished. We are going to highlight the flames alittle more since we are going to have to match up the new hood. Firwall is muralled and looks bad ass. Everytime I see his work I forget how pissed off I am at him. Funny! Going to get some pics this week.

Car is finally out of the paint booth and slightly different from the second paint job. The main body has already been sanded and buffed. Painter told me today that it looks so sick. Going to pick it up on thursday and its time to get all these parts that are taking up my house installed. Can't wait to get it in my hands and do what I need to do and get it moving along. Will post pics when I pick It up and get it home..

Heres a diagram I found to better explain lockwiring.....if you imagine that if any bolt you're wiring starts to loosen off, it must try to tighten the next bolt its wired to, then that'll help.

Had to cut back on the car a bit the last two months due to it getting extremely slow at work. Been having to go out out of town alot so I can't seem to find the time to work on it either. On a good note I should be getting it going again in the up coming weeks. Got one of my good friends to finish it up for me. It was a hard decision but he is one of the few people that I know will do it right. He is a very picky and meticulous person. Hope to have some updated pics in the next few weeks...

Oh wow those are fricken hot! This thing is going to be sick! The camera is making the wheels look full polish, but these Injected wheels has polished grooves and brushed spokes.

We set up a narrowed rear so we could get a deep lip on a 10" wheel, and from the side profile the car looks mini tubbed!

Glad to see the total package went together as planned. And thanks for sourcing through us and trusting us.

Oh I thank you for being so helpful and making sure I make the right decision on what I order. It looks real good now I just hope my boy gets some work accomplished on it soon or like I said in the email "it will be on its way to Prodigy if nothing gets done soon"! Everything looks good under the car too. The rear diff seems to be pointing down alittle more than it should but he will let me know what the pinion angle is here in the next few days. Thanks again for the help and you should be hearing from me this week.

Thanks CruizinKev and Bozeforged for the nice compliments. Now I am debating on removing the roll bar. The side bars are just going to be a pain to get in and out of the car. I was going to remove those first and leave the rest. Now I realized that the rear bar are going to be directly above my little girls heads when they sit in the back seat. This might be danger for them. It is really only going to be a cruiser. What do yall recommend??

Yeah I know it gots to go. Wasn't to sure how close it was going to be and exactly where the bars where going to pass but tried there seats in there and its not going to work. I can just do some frame connectors to stiffen it up some I guess. It is kinda unconfortable anyways.

Thanks man for the compliment. Been trying to get some stuff done and hope to have it completed soon. Well we got the rear diff back and should be going in this weekend. Hopefully all is good this time. I also got a whole lot of secondskin products, new covan thunder road cluster with autometer gauges and a march serpentine belt setup on the way. We sunk the rear fuel cell and made a cradle for it that bolts up under the trunk floor and got all the brake lines ran. Hope to put some pics up of the progress later this week..

platniumta
03-23-2010, 06:53 AM
Here are a few pics that I got from the mechanic. We are a bit farther along but he has uploaded the new pics yet... I had to send the new differential back as it was welded wrong from the manufacturer. It was shifted to one side and had the upper brackets clocked wrong. The wheel on the driver side was very close to the inner framerail but have plenty of room on the outer fender lip. The pass side was opposite. Now I need to check the length of the new rear diff as I got about a 1 & 1/2" clearance on the inside but the tires are rubbing the fender lip on both sides. Hope they narrowed the new one the right amount. This was a pain in the "rear" as I had to pay the mechanic several hours of labor for trying to make this one work, install & removal twice, making a pallet to send back and picking up the new one at the freight house. This put a very unneccesary dent in the funds which wasn't nice after paying a pretty penny for it in the first place...

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/Photo0241-1.jpg

Then we had to figure out a way to mount the fuel cell without killing all the access or area in the trunk. It just seemed like a way to save a few dollars and it still looks pretty cool. Those aftermarket tanks are just so pricey..

Hope to have some updated pics in the next few weeks...
who did the body work. was it a local shop dallas area?

The body work was actually done by several people here around the dfw area. Now that the car is done you can see imperfections and I wish I would have spent a little more time on finishing the body off the right way. It never was suppose to be this nice of a car but it just snowballed from the first time it got painted. Its just a cruiser anyway. Now if I ever build another one I will pick one good body guy with good referalls and just pay what he wants cause how good a car looks depends on his work.

well we tried to charge the a/c system friday and the compressor is making all kinds of noises so it has to go back to march performance. We also have a bad regulator on the drivers door so that has to go back too! This car is going to fight me to the end! Was hoping to be able to finish all the little things this week and be able to drive it around next weekend but I guess it will just have to wait..

Took the car out for its first trip down the expressway and it did great. Got a few small concerns to fix. I took it to a local car show here in town and it got first place 60's car class. Also was approached by a car show promoter that is going to be having a big car show in Dallas, Tx in august. His theme car this year for the show is camaros and he wants me to put in the show. Its a big indoor show. I believe he has a show in Hartford, Connecticut this weekend. Now I got to fix all the little isues that are bothering me before the show. Here are a few more pictures from the Houston show we went to..

They are the factory seats without the headrests and the interior guy added a little to front lower center part and the sides to make them hug you alittle. I gave him a picture of the design I wanted and he made them come out better than what I expected.

Been a while since I updated on whats new with the car. I decide to change the wheels. I stayed with the same size but now they are Savini 3 piece wheels color matched to the car. Took me some time to get use to it but i think it actually makes the car look meaner. Here are a few pictures from two recent shows we went to. It won best of show paint at the muscle meets muscle show and it was in our shop vendor booth at a big car show this weekend. Don't know how many times we was told that our cars was the best in the show. To bad we didn't get to compete. Here are the pictures...

Thanks! I had a hard time at first with the new wheels but after looking at it a while outside in the sun it started to grow on me. Surprisingly I got a lot of compliments on it from older hot rod guys at the show. It also is like by the younger crowd as that is whats in still at the moment. Believe me I still got the injecteds wheels just in case.

My old 93 TA has a VERY similar color as your Camaro.

Been a while since I posted here. Well the car has been in storage for a few years but was finally brought out this June for a photoshoot for Savini wheels. They also had it in their booth at the Dallas DUB show. I am having to do a little work to it as we know being stored takes its toll on things. First I am having to figure out what I am going to do with the March pulleys and brackets which I am very unsatisfied with. I'm thinking about getting it ready for the Autorama in Feb. Will post pics as soon as I can figure out how to get them from my email and phone to here lol.
