Hey Guys,

It seems that I'm at a crossroads with my car, I am either going to sell it or take it the next step.

Right now it is an extremely solid driver and I am trying to decide if I want to up the ante. Which brings me here, I would like fellow g-body owners who have eliminated the factory air conditioning box and cleaned up their firewall to chime in with photos and how to's.

I am strongly leaning towards doing this type of upgrade as I have so much tied up in the car. I would have a hard time taking a loss on it.

Anyway, firewall suggestions please.

keep it! I doubt you'll get enough out of it to justify selling it. sort of the downside of g-bodies.

anyway, I haven't started cleaning up my firewall, and I don't plan on eliminating the HVAC box, but Andrew has done some work to his:

Hey Jason. We have differant cars but if you click on my signature link to webshots I have 2 smoothing the firewall folders with lots of pics. I'm almost done with the bondo and am gettting ready to paint. I did it kind of half a$$ed..!! without removing the subframe but the whole front end is off the car so that I can get at everything. Take a look and if you need any advice just ask, I got all my info here on the site. These guys rule.

Just a thought here; you live in Winnipeg which has 2 seasons: winter and black flies. No I know your summer gets scorching hot quick - Ontario's does too. At that point for the few months of the year you get to drive your car you are going to want AC. I think the thing about pro-touring that appeals to me the most is that you are trying to make the car as functional in as many dimensions as possible. One of those functions could be to go touring comfortably. AC would help. Unless you are going aftermarket, do you really want to lose that? If you do have an aftermarket system in mind then I would smooth the firewall. Or you could smooth it and make lots of stops for slurpies - you guys are famous for those eh? :P
As far as selling it, would you get enough out of it to get you into the project you want? Would you miss it if it were gone? Those cars are great platforms unless the frames get the same salt Ontario cars do. You should do a search through the PT garages here and see the level G bodies have been taken to before you make your decision.

Thanks for your response guys. I already have disconnected the A/C. I really want to achieve a clean firwewall. I will consider using an aftermarket A/C system down the road.
I just can't bring myself to sell it. I also can't see making any major progress on the car in the next couple of years.

Jeoff, I will check thsoe folder out later today. Thanks.

"As far as selling it, would you get enough out of it to get you into the project you want?" If I sell, I won't get another project. That would be it for me.

"Would you miss it if it were gone?" YES, BUT I never drive it>

"Those cars are great platforms unless the frames get the same salt Ontario cars do." Been in love with this platform for a very long time, this is my fourth Regal. As for the frame, this is a 24,000km/15,000mi car.

Thanks all of you who have replied so far.
