I'm going to run C5/C6 front brakes, not sure on rears... either ZQ8, LS1 or C5/C6.

I never really considered going manual, but after reading a few posts here, it seems like a valid option. I have a used hydroboost unit (not from Hydratech) that I was going to use, but thought I'd get your guys input on a manual set up.

Seems that with the right MC it can be very streetable, but is it even an option with C5 brakes? Most of the guys appeared to be using all Wilwood stuff. I know the caliper piston area has a lot to do with it, but that gets a bit too technical for me.

This will be a street car that sees about 5,000 miles per year, some drag racing, and probably some auto cross in the future. Vacuum booster is out of the question because my small block doesn't make enough vacuum to operate them properly.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Nick

I plan on running manual also with my C5/C6 brakes if possible. I'm sure Tobin will chime in or call him at Kore3. He'll get you pointed in the right direction.

Tobin set me up to go all manual with the c5 set-up. I'm very pleased how my brakes work.

I was hesitant at first with fear about too much foot pressure, but Tobin set me up with some high performance pads. He said they might create a bit more dust but really have not noticed it yet.

Thanks guys, I've already been working with Tobin for my front brake set up. I was going to save a few bucks on the rear brakes, but if I can sell the hydroboost and go the manual route... that leaves a few $ available to go with C5 in the back as well.

Any more 'real world' experience with modern manual brakes on a street car?

I would like to know too. I'm selling my Hydroboost out of my Camaro and going manual also.

I'm looking to buy a hydroboost for my 69 camaro. How much do you want ?

I run manual and I wouldn't consider anything else. Simple, easy, lightweight, uncomplicated. I also use ABS for a more modern approach.
