Just wanted to say thank you for shining a light on what some consider to be the "*******" step-child of the Camaro world. Your story, goals, and plan are basically my own....start with a solid, running car. Mix in $300-$500 a month in parts, add tons of ingenuity, patience and elbow grease- and drive the HELL out of it! My '78 Type LT will go under the wrench in the next few months (currently in the process of purchasing a new home). In the meantime, I'll be watching your progress on the g/28 very closely. We went got the motor ready for install today and it is even smog legal here in CA.. Should be nice when it is done.

Johnny: just for Aesthetics, take those big truck bumpers and get them painted body color, or better yet, replace them with fiberglass counterparts and save some weight too!

I too want to say how much I'm enjoying the g/28 series so far... :icon996: But I gotta warn you, I'm countin' the pennies. I'm gonna be looking to make sure you include the cost of the 2 wheels that didn't fit (one of which got shredded), because there ain't no way any wheel store is gonna let any one of us normal non-magazine folks return 'em. That money would just be outta pocket, and that's a lot of coin for folks like me to be screwing up.

I'm also following the project. I've had my 75 Camaro since 1985, and happy to see the 76 getting some press. Besides the big ugly bumpers and poor factory horsepower, it's really not a bad car (after some increased horsepower).

After reading the May 2005 article this morning (they also ran an article in the last Super Chevy) I've put Global West Control arms on my long and ever growing list of stuff to do.

Johnny H, here's a question for you.
I couldn't help but notice that the vast majority of suspension components are from PST as opposed to some of the bigger names (Hotchkis, Global West etc.). Was this due to budget concerns, or were you looking to compare how well the more economical parts perform?
