I'm contemplating a Lee box box as I'm not happy with the feel of the current fast ratio converted 800 box I have installed now. I'm after a modern car tighter R&P feeling to the steering. In searching and reading through several threads it sounds like Lee Mfg. is the way to go.

For those who have hands on experience with both the Lee 600 and 800 boxes, what is the difference between a Lee 600 and 800 as far as "real world" feel and does it justify the extra 100 bones for the 600 box?

In reading up on the subject it sounds like it's best to have a matched pump set up for the box - either a Saginaw P-series or a TC. My preference is for the P-series to keep the engine bay looking stock plus I don't track the car.

Thanks in advance for any input.

The 600 series is a little smaller and lighter. I don't think there are any functional differences.
My guess is the 800 series is an almost direct replacement for the one already in your car. Except for the finish and the safety wire it would look the same, so if you want to keep the stock look that's the way to go. (I don't think that you are worried about the look, but I figured I'd mention it.)

I have the DSE 600 series, and my friend has the Lee's 800 reworked box. We both have the same tires, suspension, etc. both of us like the feel of the DSE 600 box better. The Lee's/ATS 600 should be great.

Better feel & smaller size? I'm convinced.

IIRC, I've seen Mark at SC&C post that the 600 box is 6-1/2 pounds lighter and slightly smaller...throw in better feel and it sounds like an easy choice if you're already decided on running one of Lee's boxes.
