Yeah. I've heard that about DynoMax. I have been thinking of changing over to their Super Turbo mufflers (even quieter).

I had the flowmaster 40 series mufflers before, changed to Dynomax ultraflow welded racing mufflers.

that is good info. I posted an inquiry on better flowmaster mufflers. I have flowmaster 40's..hate the drone. May need to change brand

Yeah, that IS good to know. I was planning on using the Dynomax Ultraflo's in a 3" with a full exhaust and x-pipe. What size did you use?

Yeah theres a guy in our firebird club that did this and it quieted the car way down at cruising but it is still really loud when he gets on it.

Dynomax, Borla ProXS, Magnaflow, they all work significantly better than the Flows.

Once you switch, you'll never go back.

Got a video or audio recording of the Dynomax?

Careful on the Dynomax. They use a glass fiber matting inside the muffler that gets blown out after awhile. They get louder as they age.

doesnt magnaflow use the same?

yes the dynomax ultraflows and I think the magnaflows use a fiberglass matting. I have magnaflows on a 500 hp SBF fox mustang and at first they were very quiet and after about 3-4k miles got louder and then have been the same for about 20k miles. I've also used dynomax superturbo mufflers on a sbf stang and they were quieter than flowmaster 3-chamber but did drone a little.

Well I ahd a set of Corvette dual outlet Dynomax Super turbos on my 70 Monte got them for 60 bucks a pair nearly new(ran about 5 hours total.
Put about 350k miles between 2 vehicles till they finally got stress cracks in the stainless. Had stock 350 4bbl made car sound big, then my high compression 402 with 1 7/8 headers, Flowmaster Force 2 Scavenger collectors and 3 in pipes then smooth NAPA reducers to 2 1/2 in into the muffs, then on both of the Roller motors in my 78 C10 till they blew apart. Then got pair of used Flowmasters from buddy for truck. on my roller motor they sound pretty good.
but I probably will buy Flowmasters from work for Monza and maybe even the Caprice.

On a side note I really do want to try Edelbrocks SDT mufflers just for the heck of it.

also used Flow techs on my old Monza VERY NICE for a cheaper welded muffler.

I like the Dynomax 17749 Super Turbo. I like to be able to hear what's going on with my car...

I'm looking to quiet down my 427, I'll look into those dynomax's. Thanks!

The superturbos use fiberglass matting inside but I think the ultraflows are just chambered. I've had superturbos on a bunch of vehicles and they don't hold up well to winter driving/salt - I never got more than 1.5 years out of one. They rot out from the inside at the folded joints. They may do fine in a dry climate though.

I've been running a 2.5" in/out ultraflow welded on my truck for 2.5 years and it still looks like new. It is definately quite too, especially for something that flows so well.

MagnaFlow uses a metallic packing (I think it's called Rockwell) that outlasts fiberglass... it's like stainless packing. I'd run them over glass packs every time.

Try the Dynomax #17749 mufflers with turn down tips at the tail pipes.... Quiet while cruising around town with it sounding like a 60s gasser with the hammer down... There nice and light too..

In the video, I mistakingly bumped my MSD timing control and was running 0 degrees inital... They sound even better at 14 inital....

Kevin, Rockwell or Rockwool?

Rockwool is used as a packing material in building construction for pipe and conduit penetration on fire rated walls.... It is the backing material for firecaulk. I wonder if that is what you're talking about? I don't think it is metallic though...

At 30 I realized I wasn't 19 anymore so I went from FM 40s to Magnaflows on my Mustang. I didn't like the sound with the tailpipes, sounded like a UPS truck but when I went to dumps it was awesome. Of course the fumes weren't great so I converted it to side exhaust and it still sounds really nice and deep. I had cheapie 2.25" tailpipes then so it would've probably been better with some mandrel-bent 2.5 inchers. It's amazing how much noise is removed considering the simple construction.

Side exhaust parts. Dynomax "sidepipe connector kit".

Zero drone, no gurgle/popping on decel (I thought the engine died the first time), and sounds like a Cup car at WOT.
