I've been flirting with the idea of putting a set of the 17 inch snowflakes from Year One on my car. What do you folks think of this Photochop mock up?

I think they'd look really good on your car.

Good job with photoshop. Some people don't like the snowflakes on earlier cars, but not me. I'd do it! There really isn't anything good in 15" tires except the M/T S/Rs, and they're just "better than the rest".

I was wondering what those rims would look like on a 74. I've been waiting until they come out with a better version of the honeycombs but those look good. Is that a real SD?

Yes, it is an SD car. What I'd love is a set of 18 inch Rally II wheels that didn't break the bank. I can't go $2,500 on a set of wheels. Thus the interest in the snowflakes.

I don't think they got the proportions on the IIs right. the cut out isn't large enough so it seems too high up. The honeycombs from Year One are flat. At least they were trying their own interpretation. The snowflakes look good though and the price is certainly right. And good on you for PTing and SD.

From what I understand is that someone is about to come out with a honeycomb that looks much better and closer to the original than the other attempts. Believe there's a thread on it over on PY.

I like the snowflakes, think it's a much cleaner looking wheel. But, it's not 'correct' for the previous years. Kind of two sides of the coin there, like, if you're going to go with something that's not 'correct', then you can pretty much choose whatever you like (personal opinion). If you choose another 'Pontiac' wheel, you get the originality 'purists' saying "Well, at least they're Pontiac wheels", which matters how?

I too feel the same on the billet Rally IIs, something got lost in the remake.

Also, remember why they stopped making the honeycomb wheels, so if you really 'drive' the car, you don't want them anyway. (reminder: They melt with heavy braking heat).

I say put on whatever wheel you like, and save the originals. You can always go back, and even do so for those certain shows/cruises. Choose ones that aren't that expensive, so if you get tired of them, or something better comes along, you can change again.

If someone would make a honeycomb that wasn't polycast and was reasonble on expense, I'd consider it. The Year One honeycombs were their interpretaion of the originals and don't look that great to me, not ot mention the price. I need inexpensive. I'm poor. :)

Anybody have pics of the billet Rally II's on a car--never seen one and the wheels always interesetd me for a pontiac project.

I kinda dig the YO billet honeycombs. They are just pretty expensive for one piece wheels...

Critter I like them, think they look sweet. I might even go with 18's.
Ron I really like those also. I guess I like snowflake in general. Just my 2cents.

Unfortunately, they don't make them in 18s, only 17s.

Wheels can make or break a car. Any other reasonably priced options that you guys think would look appropriate on my TA?

What about raceline GT's? They are a ford copy but if you are going for something fairly flat (which I think looks right on second gen) then why not dare to be different?

I like them but I'm wondering, with a white car, do I need something in a gunmetal or color to keep the wheels from disappearing in the white paint?
