Just picked up a Auto Twirler Plus. And just put a 1st gen camaro on it today, very nice.

best and cheapest typically don't go hand in hand. For the cheapest route, it's pretty simple to build one. The nice thing is tha you can tailor it to fit your needs exactly. I just built one for a little under $400. Prior to building mine, I was seriously contemplating the Autotwirler as well.

I built mine using some plans I found on the web. If you have a two post lift you don't need one with hydraulic cylinders which cuts the cost considerably. The plans I found use thick wall tubing, thicker than the ones you buy so it has no flex at all.

Another vote for Autotwirler. I think I paid a little over a grand for mine off ebay with the lift cylinders delivered to my door. For the timeand materials I would not build my own unless you really are good at fabbing or want something specific. Some of the home grown ones out there are really cheesy and dangerous. Even for a one time restoration I would buy a pro model just for the resale value. When I am doen with mine I will probably try to "rent" it out locally a few times to make most of my money back on it.

This is the one I built. Only change I made was to make the uprights slightly taller.

There's nothing cheesy about the design of this rotisserie. It took less than a weekend to put together.

I once found a thread on how to make one from 2 engine hoists. Which includes the the power rams. If I had the link I would send it. If anyone knows it please post

I've seen that thread, too. I thought it was on some camaro forum. I wound up just buying a cheap one for about $850. It had the correct mounts for the rear spring shackles, but I got it sans rollers, connecting bar, hydraulics, and microadjuster. Some of that was a mistake in ordering:( But I did want bare bones, and it did work. I don't mind renting it out cheap locally, as it'll be a couple more years before I use it again.

I saw this one too, It is really well built I plan to build one also. The plans are self explainatory and the BOM is all there as well. Well put together.

I built mine from internet plans. In an odd twist, I adapted one of the ends for use as an engine hoist.
