Buying a used LS1

Hey I'm looking to get a used LS-1 for my project but I'm not really sure what to watch out for or check for in LS-1s or any used engine for that matter,

The one Im thinking about is $1700 form a 2000 z28 80K miles, if I pull it out myself. Says come complete with harness computer.

I just don't want to get scamed.
