Does anybody know where I can have sheet metal pressed to create the tailgate lettering that comes on factory trucks? I'd like to incorporate the same basic design, just new lettering/wording into my tailgate.

Thanks in advance!

You might give Walt a call. I've seen him do some amazing things with stamping. If he can't do it there is a good chance he will know who can.

If you have access to a plasma cutter or cutting torch, you can cut out what you need from 1/4" plate, clean up the inside and out so you have a "mold" and then press the steel using your car or something. But you'd have to use a full sheet of 1/4" big enough to cover the entire tail gate so you don't risk smashing the steel you're trying to stamp when you run your car over it. Low tech way to stamp or emboss I saw in a book.

Another option using the same technique... just cut out an area big enough to stamp what you want, and then weld it into a full sheet. Then you wouldn't have to deal with so much 1/4" plate.

Either option might be cheaper than paying a company for a one-off stamped piece.
