I have a motor from a 04 gto and iam needing to disable the anti theft functoin from the stock computer...I have a local shop that can do it but he needs the complete car..Does anyone have the ability to disable it with just the computer?...I would like to just be able to start the car before i start messing with everything else...any info on this would be great Thanks Bret...(316) 838-6032
Any tuner that has a bench tuning cable can do it. I'm betting the shop doesn't have the ability to tune the computer with it sitting on a table because they don't have a cable made up.
Try Norris Motorsports or Speed Inc -------->

You and a diode... their are 8 to choose from buy all 8 from radio shack for about 10 bucks. Put one in at a time until you crank..

i believe the gto uses a passlock antitheft, not vats so the diode deal will not work. vats is the old antitheft gm 97 and down.

find someone with HP Tuner. Make sure you save a copy of the original tune before you overwrite with VATS disable.
We charge $150 for a mail order tune, which also includes VATS removal. We have tuned 1000's of LSX vehicles. LEt me know if we can assist you.

hmm worked for gm and vats works by resistance not diodes which are one way check valves for electricity.
And vats run 15 different combination's

I agree with monze, measure the resistance ok the key, little pelet on the side of the key to the metal part that hits the tublers with a good DVOM, recommend Fluke 87 and get a resistance reading, go to Radio Shack, but the 12 cent resistor you need and solder it in the the 2 wire connector, VATS by-pass... total cost, one hour and $.12

well at best about 5.99 as you may need a few more than one resistor, laast one I did on my moms Olds 98 was 4 resistors. but its up under dash never to be heard from again.
And any good volt ohm meter in digital form will measure it give me a PM if you need help getting resistor pack built I do still have a whole bunch of them, and then you can use cheap custom keys over the more expensive ones. and you never have to tear down the column to repalce the ccylinder.
