ok so my customer wants a 454lsx in his pro-touring 69 camaro. he demands a factory cowl hood. the car hwas a 2in raised front subframe also. so what is my best option for power and function? he nominated the wilson fuels intake with a throttlebody elbo but that looks to tall and its kinda ugly. i'm still think'n a stock ls1 type intake. any suggestions?

id hold out for the fast lsxr and have it ported.

what type of intake ports do you need? what type of heads?

LS1, LS7, L92, ETP canted valve, all these require different intake manifolds

yes, with a raised subframe and factory cowl hood, you will NEED a car-style intake manifold.

Have you considered the GMPP carb-style manifold? Use a FAST throttle body, and a standard dropped air filter. Or even make it use real cowl induction.

CI aircleaner will not clear the FAST tb. I tried that.

Could you make your own air cleaner to fit the FAST TB? Surprisingly good results can be had using a simple cake pan and some spacers.

I didn't think OEM parts would work, but maybe something like what Carl is talking about.

Actually with a spacer it almost worked. If the Fast TB had a stamped throttle linkage it would have.
I got a combo that works fine, and fits a 4.5" filter with the GM cowl hood.

I think that the Victor JR intake in EFI with a 4150 style TB is the ticket, its what i switched to from carb'd. You just have to tune It for speed density but you can run a factory style round air cleaner. Im sure you are running rectangle ports on that 454 LSx though you would need the GMMP intake although i KNOW Edelbrock has a Victor JR and Super Victor JR coming out for Recatanlge port heads this year, it may even already be out. Here's a pic of my setup mocked up

Theres a thread over on LS1tech where a 408 car with the Victor JR EFI intake that switched from an elbow and throttle body to a 4150 throttle body and gained 50rwhp with it.

I'm building a 440 LSX and using a FAST 92mm intake.

Nice, simple and effective.

and it offers tons of clearance.

throttle body elbow won't work well with a cowl induction hood. Stick to a conventional fourbarrell style intake. I like the mast motorsports setup. Keeps drive by wire and VVT if you want.

I know this is an old thread, but i'm curious if anyone is running the above adapter for a stock LS TB on the aluminum efi intakes and what they think of them??
