That would be me. But is it not possible to get the same shine out of a cast aluminum piece as a billet one?

If it is, like I would think, WTF am I doing wrong? I cannot get it to that mirror polish that I normally get with billet. Do I need some different compound or something. I know it sounds stupid, but it, while still shiny, is dull next to billet pieces I have polished the same way.

That's a tall order with a cast part. You'll struggle getting a similar shine out of that cast piece because it's surface is so porous by comparison. The billet parts are from a "billet", meaning that it was more than likely forged or compressed to make that original block. This process eliminates the spongelike surfaces that you are fighting. It really depends on how well the cast part was created. Good luck.
