Hello everybody,

Well yes, I'm from France, nobody's perfect...

I just wanted to show you my Bird.

It's a 69 with a swaped 455, I have it since 2006 and as I'm a Pro-touring fan I'll try to do what I can to make it looks like one.

I'll start to work on it this summer, Jully & August...

First of all, I'll have to rebuild the gearbox and make the full exhaust pipes... Then, QA-1 front & 225/50 R15 Toyo R888 to start...

After that I'll see what my budget will be to go further...

Here are the pics... Hope you can see them

Regards
Gil

Thank you all for your welcome,

I live 65 Kms south of Paris in a small town named Angerville,
in the midle of nowhere... So I'll have time for garage work.

I'll post more pics when I'm starting...

Thanks, I will when I'm starting, no worries...

Where did the bird comes from ? US ? A friend of mine did this for a 69 Mustang, from US to France... With the papers & stuffs it's just a nightmare...

Haven't heared from the agent yet, just checked the vessel's journey and it was in Rotterdam June 12, so I guess we'll be hearing from our agent soon! I'll keep you informed.

Gil, F'bird is in. It's in a (very) rough state. It runs (more or less), the subframe and all of it's components look rather decent for a 40 year old car but the bodywork will require lots of attention (lots of Bondo and other poor repair work). Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to take decent pics of it and my friend and his son have already removed the entire front clip. I'll keep you informed and will share pics as soon as I can.

BTW: I pointed Larry Callahan in your direction to help him out with a French Car magazine; https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58015

Gil

No problem René, that's good news.

I haven't begun to work yet, have a lot to do in my house before...

I'll probably take care of the gearbox next week...

I'll also try to find & buy this mag for Larry

Salut Gil,

Content de voir un francophone ici!
Happy 2 see a french speaking on here!

My name is David, i live in Belgium and i have a 72 Buick Skylark going a Pro-Touring way.

I wasn't aware (comme dirait Jean-Claude) of the new french magasine post in the other thread but i can't wait to find it .....

What is the project with your Bird? wheels, brakes and so on?

A+
David

Nice color, is that Orbit Orange? I've seen on another bird once. Good luck with your project!

Gil

Hello David
nice to see french language too :1st:

Well, for now it's just big work in the house before in the garage...
Haven't starded yet, it's a shame...

But in order of work, the project will be :

- QA1 front to rase the nose a bit
- Rebuild the gearbox to have a rear drive again
- Long Branch Headers from RamAir
- 2.5'' handmade full Exhaust System with Flowmaster Muffler
- water/fuel lines check & change
- SpeedTech Tubular lower/upper Control Arms
- Full body & chassis work with probably a white color (sick of orange).
- (Baer brakes full corners) or not
- 17" or 18" Fikse Profil 5S (Charcoal center) & R888
- Carbon fiber top layer and fiberglass underside hood & trunk
- Fesler Billet Hood/Trunk Hinges & brushed Hood-Latch from Hood-latches...
- (Minitub) or not
- SpeedTech Torque Arm Rear Suspension

I think it'll be done in two years I hope & try to have her drivable all the way...

Well, that's my wish...

Nice color, is that Orbit Orange? I've seen on another bird once. Good luck with your project!

Maybe Josh, but honestly I don't know, sorry... Thanks anyway.

Also met a friend whith his Vette... Carjacked failled and he was pushed and finished in the fields... can't keep the ls, sic...

Thanks Traven, I think it's more or less a 70' GTO Orange... I was thinking to change it when I'm doing the body, but I'm not sure I will change... Maybe just paint the hood, trunk & tail in mat black would be nice...

Yeah I was picturing it with a black hood myself and thought it would look BA.

Gil
06-19-2010, 05:17 AM
That's right, and my first idea of Carbon fiber top layer and fiberglass underside hood & trunk would probably be too much...

Ordered Long branch headers and other things today. too bad my new job is so far from my Bird... Hope to make the exhaust lines in Jully...

John Wright

Callaway Corvette rolled?

I love the color too...maybe you can accent it with the carbon fiber hood and trunk lid, if you wanted to break up some of that orange....either way, I like it.

Gil
06-19-2010, 09:37 AM
Thanks John, I'll ask my brother to make a photoshop of it, to see what it could be...

Well yes, the Vette is gone... 36K bucks to repair was a bit too strong...

Hello all,

Long time since last post & nothing moves with my car, just made the fuel lines to drive safe from Paris to Lille.

Just found another job & a new house with a lot of work to do. Also my son is 18 month so I had too much to do & the car was waiting.

Will start a "poor dad" build thread when things are returned to "calm mode"
