Very cool. Surprised to see it in black & white. Did they really broadcast sports event in B&W in the early 70's?

FYI - One of the drivers Robin Gray (running in a mk1 escort that broke half way through i think) now runs a company in the UK specialising in Pontiacs and spares.
He drove a 78 Trans Am in the classic saloon car championship a couple of years back.

Most of the Hick ups are out, yet still need to replace the alternator and replace the broken reserve fuel pump..

great video. funny how the Camaro pulled away significantly on the straights but the Escort(?) caught up everywhere else.

Thanx for sharing. There will never be racing like taht again where cars that are so different can be so close. There was a V-8 Camaro against smaller lighter cars, some cobbled together with F-1 parts and making mid-engined sedans.

Amazing video! Did you guys notice how the Mustang made it from dead last to third? That Camaro should have had the win had he not spun . . . if I were one of those guys I'd have gone out and bought a Camaro. :)

I think its a big upper for the camaro as them Ford escords where umongs if not the best handling cars of the day . infackt
there are PLENTY of those left in the uk and ireland where they are still racing the crap out of them. some of the best raliegh drivers in the world come from ireland, and raced them. and yes that type of ecsightmend in racing is very hard to find these days..

It just shows that there are two ways of going fast round a track.
I wish there was a series where we could see cars so different pitched against each other like that. Things are far too serious now.

I think what upset him was when he took the line around the leader that was out of the groove and he picked up all that junk on his tires and when he hit that corner there was no grip.
BTW, thanks for posting...that was fun to watch
