I'm going on vacation to CA. I'm from Germany and want to know some cool places like shops/meets/carshows and things.

We'll leaving Germany 28th May. Going back to Germany 12th June.

Our vacation goes like this route:

So any suggestions / addresses?

Thanks,

allow plenty of time for Lake Powell. Once you get there you will not want to leave.

Yosemite as well, lots to do and see there, especially if you like hiking, fishing, camping or rock climbing.

Hit Fisherman's Wharf in San Fransico and Aquarium of the Bay along with Alcatraz. On you way up to San Fran Hearst Castle is good site along with the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Carmel.

If you like Wine Napa Valley is definitely a detour you should make.

In Los Angeles Peterson Automotive Museum definitely worth a stop.

There is also a great aquarium in Monterey. If you are driving up the coast from LA to SF then stop there. I used to stop in Monterey twice a year. Beautiful place. I will second the Wharf in SF. Then again, we digress from the "car theme".

Just south of Flagstaff is a little town called Sedona. You don't want to miss it. Great place to stay there would be http://www.briarpatchinn.com/

I don't know when you will be in the SF Bay Area but there is the Good-Guys car show in Pleasanton on the 30th and 31st.

as far as car stuff goes . . .

When in the Orange and Los Angeles County areas, try to save a Saturday morning to stop by the Cars and Coffee meet. It's a great weekly meet that has an exceptional turn out. If you go, be early! Like, 6:30 in the morning early. Things are pretty much wrapped up by 9:15 AM.

Also, the Marconi Museum in Tustin could be a neat quick stop. They ask that you call ahead "for reservations." Really, you're just calling to make sure the place hasn't been rented out for a private event on the day you plan to go. A 5 dollar donation puts you in the middle of an amazing car collection.

I hope that Bakersfield stop is just for gas. Without Buck Owens there's no longer any reason to go there.

Come on True, Ironworks is in Bakersfield. I'm sure Rodger wouldn't appreciate that comment about only stopping for gas, LOL. Get in touch with Rodger and check out the cool projects hes working on. I'm sure he'd love to have you there for a shop tour.

Go a little further north east to Lake Tahoe, one of the prettiest places on earth! If you like wine between San Francisco and Tahoe a little town called Lodi, just like the song, stuck in Lodi. The Zinfandel capitol of the world and the winegrape capitol of the US.

x2.

Even with Buck Owens it was a tough sell. The steak house just down the street from the traffic circle used to have a lunchtime lingerie show.....
