New project for a lurking member. I been lurking for many years before I joined watching and admiring all the great projects and hard work while focused on other things. Second generation car lover. About to start on this project: ’67 Camaro convertible. I have had it since 1987. My Dad and I bought from a guy that had not driven it since 1973. It is original gold/gold standard SS 350 convertible with power top. Number matching original drive train. Did a restoration but lost interest when I drove it because I hated the way it handled. I bought suspension parts in ’92 from vette brakes but never completed the install. This was way before we had all of these options today of sub-frames,DSE etc. For the Camaro purist they would consider it sacrilege to cut up an original car but I got to.

My Dad since passed away and life happened the job, marriage and kids came a bigger priority. So I parked and stored it in 1992. After selling a few other cars now I am trying to get this going and finished. I hope to have the time/money to finish and document it as many of you have on this forum. Trying to collect parts right now. Also hope to attend David Sloan’s event to at least watch and gather ideas.

Plans include: a full on Pro Touring car with out the cage but a bar like in Franks cars.

Put the numbers matching running gear on a shelf.
Floor pans
Full Quarters
New sheet metal
Smooth firewall
DSE tubs
Rotisserie style tear down and paint
DSE Sub-frame connectors
Suspension:

Have DSE Quadra-link now, just need to buy a 9in.
Awaiting JAKES front clip, Ordered through David Sloan at Road Killer Kustoms (great guy)
Running gear:

Ready on the stand 406:
Victor jr. top end, 6 in rods, internally balanced crank, biggest cam I could have without bucking in 6th gear
On a shelf Richmond 6 speed

Have many other ideas and parts to gather but we will wait and see how much time I can carve out. Just need to get the metal work done first. But with a young family tough to get the time for a quick turn around. May have to get it to David for the metal work.

Car doesn’t have a name but if it did it would be something like ‘about time’ or ‘Get on with it’, etc.
