I am almost done putting on a serpentine syetem from a 2002 tahoe. The alternator has the battery post on the back with two red wires held on by a nut.

This alternator does not have the terminals on the back like I have seen described in the tech forums. Instead there is a plug on the side with one brown wire.

Can anyone help me figure out how to hook this up to my stock 68 camaro wires?

Every post I have been able to find seems to refer to an alternator with "spade" type terminals on the back, and that just doesnt seem to apply to the one I have.

Thanks
Jason

can you get me a picture. is the alternator from a 02 tahoe?Is the alternator an internal fan type or external?
OK now some of the GM alternators will have a black "cage" on back but should use a stud mount for battery wire connection which may have unscrewed from the back of alternator. Not servicible from my experience.
Now the plastic plug can be oval or oval with slight bulg on one end. The second has an S on bigger end then F then L then P:
P=tach (stator)idle frequency about 200hz
L=Light energize koeo 0.5v -2.0v koer 14v/hooks to light in dash
F=Field/I=Energize this is for PCM control by PWM (pulse width modulation from 2.0-8.5 v, higher voltage=lower output)
S=battery sense, simply loop to battery terminal on back of alt
This alternator is computer controlled ,pain to use unless pcm can control it.

Oval connector similar setup, I like using older CSI alternators over the newer ones if they have no pcm control. older csi alternator (read external fan)

I appreciate the reply. I have gotten some advice that I should treat this as a "one wire" install with the idiot light(the brown wire I mentioned is the "L" terminal. I didnt intend for this, but I cant purchase another alternator at the moment. Do you see any issues running this as a "one wire?" I can start looking for another alt. Can you tell me what I shoul look for that will fit?

This one looks identical to the one I have
