I'm going to be getting my rear suspension in soon, and I am trying to figure out how you weld the tabs to the axle without the rest of the drive train installed.

It is an air ride airbar. How do I know where to weld the tabs on top of the axle? They are going onto a multi-leaf rearend.

I had thought about putting my leafs back in temporarily to place everything, but I must have gotten rid of them somewhere along the line of the build.

This is the way i did it.... May not be the most traditional way but it worked for me.

once I was ready to weld the upper brackets I put my tires back on then jacked the axle back into place and used wood shims between the inner wheel house and wheel. This centered the axle / wheels on the car. I had determined my ride height and used more wood blocks under load against the bottom of the frame and over the axle. So with the blocks keeping my ride height and axle centered I was able to use a angle finder to determine my engine / trans in relation to the rear end. mocked up the the upper links then tacked them in place. I kept the lower bars on to help keep everything lined up. No vibration for over 4000 miles. With busts to the 1XX mph range.

like I said not very technical but it worked.
