The video shakes above 100mph. (I think I have a rear tire out of balance)
Overall it was an outstanding day...very warm @ 90+ degs. Open Track Racing (http://www.opentrackracing.com) puts on a very cool event.
1:41 was the best I pulled off for the day. I should be able to achieve upper 30's with no problem but my nads were holding me back. Turn 2 is 80mph and reached mid 130's on the front and back straights. The Toyo R888's got a big time work out. In the low 1:50's, my camber set-up was good. In the low 1:40's, it needs a little more. I heard a well set-up Porsche GT3 and an experienced driver was doing 1:35's

How was the dip/elevation change on the back straight area,
always heard yelling whoohooo when guys would hit that!
looks like fun, too bad on the vibration and wind noise,

Nice Ron! The Big Track is a whole different monster than SOWS. You need a lot of courage, especially keeping speed through the back straight into 8-9.

I know a guy who lost a wheel out there and never found it!!! It was on a Lola T-70 too!!!

You notice how I short shift over 6...very light going over..I didn't want to be in the powerband at that point. Feels like you could easily get into trouble if too much power is applied.

I'm sure it's still called this, but many years ago in the S2000 and F2000 series we called it "The Big Lift". The fast guys did it flatout and you can easily here it from the pit wall. I'm not shy to admit that I lift big time. I don't need to go off at 130...That's just bad in every way!

Ron,
nice run
Thanks Dave...
I love video, it shows all errors nicely. I never realized that I shift my hands around the steering wheel so much. Maybe a quicker ratio steering rack would help with that?

Yea, I've seen race cars go off around 8 & 9. What's worse is I've seen the cars being towed back to the pits and what they look like. All I can say is OMG! what a mess.
I can see how it happens---you set-up out of 8 going into 9 on the outside edge looking back and forth for 9's apex. You look out too long at the apex and slightly drift out, drop a wheel and its over....going for the ride of your life. Would a outside curb help out? bump and feel method..LOL

You did great IMO. Very nice run.
Smaller lighter cars with less power can take that section flat. ~3400lbs cars that can be street driven with Mega-Power can take it flat only once.
Here's how I see it: If you are at the maximum grip level of your tires holding the line that's is what your car is capable of and no more. If you are not then there's room for improvement. I know I can improve.
It looked like a load of fun. Thanks for sharing.

What was the event? A fried of mine wanted me to go and check out a really nice '69 (truck arm suspension) but I'm swamped.
Great run.. oh, have you seen the new Toyo ad yet??? ;)

That cone in 9 is always in the washed out area with a dip in the track surface I alluded to in a different thread. That's my apex marker in the MGB. My best was a 1:47 in Vintage legal configuration. I go into 8 flat and remain flat except for a brief feather right at the apex of 9 to rotate the car.
I scrub enough speed in 8 & 9 that I could probaby go down to 3rd (when I'm running the 3.9 rear gear) at exit; when I run th 4.3, I shift into 4th by the T7 kink and keep laying into it until I lift for T1

Braille would work on a small strip around the outside. Just make it very shallow for the full blown race cars with no suspension and smaller tires. LOL

Thx Steve...
The event was put on by Open Track Racing (http://www.opentrackracing.com)
I've not heard nor seen anything on the Toyo Ad yet. I talk to Stan which seems like a couple of months ago now and he said that he had heard the car was great he would forward to me when he sees it. Dunno? I'll try calling him again.

I remembered the dip but it wasn't that bad with the Camaro. I didn't get right on the curb but for the most part it was smooth and didn't upset the car at all. Something with tighter suspension may be a different story. I did come around 9 once a little strong and had to keep putting more steering input into it. As the dirt was approching fast and I felt a pretty good push. "BIG PUCKER" I didn't try the trail braking thing which probably would have helped. Maybe next time.
