I'm not sure when in May we want to do the next Cruise the Crest but - good news - we may be able to breakfast in Wrightwood if folks are so inclined. The portion of the Angeles Crest Highway that has been closed for about 5 years now is scheduled to re-open in "late" spring. http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist07/travel/projects/details.php?id=41 60 miles of mountain road - it is an absolutely spectacular drive!

No commitment here. Moving has be a bit swamped and car-less for a while.

We're ready.

Except this time, I'm in the middle someplace. No tickets this time.

Pretty soon we're going to look like a breakaway in a bike race, with the leader peeling off every few minutes to drop to the back of the group. :)

This weekend is not good but any time after will work for me. The car runs great with the new 6 speed...

That guy was just mad that everyone went by him under the limit :machine:

Please take some more pics! With that car mounted camera on the nose you could make something like the Rendevouz movie!

MKelcy Do you run a D&D trans with front plate and viper tail housing? If so what crossmember are you running? Tyler from ATS says his won't work... :(

In my blue '68 I'm running an LS1 T56 with a Lakewood scattershield and the McLeod adapter plate. I'm using one of Tyler's old style T56 cross-members mounted to relocated holes in the subframe.

Why does Tyler say it won't work - front to rear wrong or vertical mounting postion wrong?

Well I have a ls crossmember in there now and it is too high to use a trans mount. I cut it and made it work but it is kind of ugly. No one makes one that I can find... So to answer your question he did not say, but I am assuming it is the height

Check with Lance-W on Camaros.net. Apparently the stock LS1 trans mount is much thinner than the Energy Suspension type piece.

Nope it's not the LS1 mount I used. It's a Turbo 400 mount for most muscle cars of that era (I think they're all the same). It fit almost perfect with the just a little clearancing on one set of the bolt holes on the mount. The factory LS1 mount has some single pointed stud for the crossmember that must make it easier on the assembly line.

He won't be able to do anything this next time, I went to AAA to register my truck and car... took a huge hit this month because of that, AND insurance was due. Heck, Christmas is cheaper.

Anywho, I opted for a new set of plates rather than trying to find my front plate... I've NO idea where it ran off to. Now, I just got to get the car signed off by CHP and the ticket squared away.

The G8 will be uber legal this time around.

If you boys (and gals) go this weekend I'll have to pass, I've got birthday parties and such to attend... plus the G8 out of commission at the moment getting worked on.

... hell, I may still go even if I don't have the Pontiac. There's always the truck...

If the other night getting off the freeway says anything, the two of us in trucks on ACH would be a BAD thing. hahahaha. :attn::attn:

Hmm, put the Camaro wheels on the Truck for a day?

So... are we 'a go' this weekend?

Meet you boys at 6:30am at the base of the hill? :)

Yes? No? Maybe?

Hope to see you folks there...

Good run up the hill this time... Good talkin with ya again Mike.

Sucks that we had to leave Jon's car at the bottom of the hill for the day. Tire turned out to be fine, and held air all the way home. Who knows what happened?

That was fun. A LOT of traffic though. I may run out to Wrightwood tomorrow. If I do, I'll try to take some pictures.

I ran out to Wrightwood yesterday, in the early afternoon.

Wow, I'd forgotten how beautiful parts of that run are. Unfortunately, I didn't bring the camera. I'd suggest we plan for the next "Cruise the Crest" to be a longer drive out to Wrightwood. 60 miles - one way - of mountain road is darn near irresistable.:twothumbs

Let's do it Mike.
