For the haters, here is a 2nd gen with big inch wheels that I like the looks of. Although the back tires could use a bit more sidewall for my personal tastes. They almost look too narrow for the rim.
Badass nonetheless.

I love it--but get some wider tires. Otherwise, mega-sick.
Wider tires? Those rear tires are wide. They're 315s at least. What do you want, Prostreet wide?

I think it's safe to say that's unlikely.....why does everyone bum the euro cars so much? lol
The M3 is a nice handler but it seriously needs some engine mods to match something with 1000 horses AND some decent chassis mods.
A standard E30 M3 is shockingly slow and doesn't have much scope for power without a different engine being fitted.
The Audi will be losing 140hp stood still with its 4x4. lol It needs gravel or 900+ horses to have a realistic chance. lol
That camaro will be an animal on the track. 1003bhp, wide (unless you're on this forum, where they're narrow?) tyres, sorted suspension, low C of G and most likely a bit of downforce....

1000hp is worthless if you cant put it down. The Audi and BMW are proven race cars and will use 3/400hp much better that the Camaro with 1khp. Next I guess you will tell me Porsche has never won any races...............:enguard:

I've driven my friends e30 M3, they're nicely balanced but they're far from mystical pieces of engineering.
Im sorry but as long as the camaro isn't nastily set-up, the difference in cornering is going to be relatively small. The difference down the straights is going to be huge. 70% of the track will be spent with your foot to the floor. In fact, that camaro will be twice as good as the M3 at actually putting the power down to the tarmac....it just might not be quite as needle like through the corners.
Next you'll be telling me the corvette doesn't handle because it uses leaf springs and an OHV engine.....Too much Jeremy Clarkson. lol :machine:
(this is all speculation by us both, it just gets to me that people think because a car's european it's magically going to be unbeatable around a track....and ignore the basics of what makes a fast car)

No? Worth a try. :-(
In fairness, his would win. He's just started fitting a supercharged e28 M5 6 pot lump in to it. :machine:lol

Just a guess, they might not be able to get proper sized tires as easily as people stateside. Its also a trend with the watercooled vw people
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/05/37ic-1.jpg
I'm betting availability with the tires. It is however better for handling to put a tire like that onto the rim. It short, there's no roll over of the tire so it's stiffer. Tire Rack has a good write up somewhere on their website about it.

I wasn't assuming they were stock at all. I just seriously doubt they're modified enough to keep up with the camaro at that spec.
I tend to follow this sort of thing over here (in europe, where these cars are lol) and you get to see what people do to these cars and what they can achieve. Generally they aren't going to stand up to the camaro with that sort of spec.
I think you're just caught up in the mystical belief that having independent rear suspension makes up 10 seconds a lap. It really doesn't.
Just watch that polly motorsport trans am and tell me what sort of car could catch that up just with better handling and an extra 200 horses. It's nearly as good as everything else in the corners and absolutely ballistic in the straights. It's scruffy, completely rediculous but absolutely uncatchable because of it's power.
As for which car will be the nicest to drive through the corners...well then the M3 even upsets the quattro. They're lovely on the limit....I'd be tempted to have one over the Cosworth if they weren't so slow.
(PS sorry to go on, it's just that these sort of claims are a discredit to the pro-touring scene as a whole)

Thank you to every one that likes my car .
Here is some spec on the car :
1973 camaro Z28
engine : 377 small block , dart block , callies crank , lunatI rods , je pistons, AFR heads , procharger F1R , Autronic SM2 computer , and a lots of custom made parts , dry sump oil system ,
Transmission : ZF 6 speed Tranmission stage 1 upgrade , dual plate custom clutch , custom made bellhousing ,
Suspension : martz chassis subframe and rear suspension whit a Ford 9" , Its the road racing setup on the car for track use ,
Wheels : front 11,5"x20" Smidth rims whit 255/35R20 tires . rear 12,5x20" smidth Rims whit 325/25R20 Tires , yes the tires are a bit small to the rims but it was the biggest dimension my tire sponsor could get me here in Norway .in front there is som space problems whit larger tires , iam working on it .
the body have a lot off modification and a lot off custom made carbon fiber parts , and we work on more parts in carbon fiber too ,
the Hood i fully custom made from scratch in carbon fiber , every one have cowl hood , i wanted something else c",)
It has a fully rollcage , built custom to fit the law in norway too be a street car , it has sparco seats and steering wheels ,
the car is new built so i havent tryed it out fully yet but it is wild to drive , it is storng as hell , and have wery good traction as it is but it is no problems to get it spinn loose in 100 mph whit that much power , but i will have electronic traction controll on the car soon so i can adjust maximum traction to it .
the engine pumps out 1003 hp and 1101 Nm on pump gas .
805 wheel horse power .
my next goal whit the power is 1000 hp on the weels .
best regards
Ronny Teigen

guys, guys, guys, allow me to be the official bench racer here and lay down the final verdict on how a race that we have virtually no way to ever find out about will go down:
First off, the BMW will win. I say this because it is a BMW, and BMWs win everything. I present, as evidence, that sometimes Porsches win races. Thus, thence, and therefore, this camaro will lose to every BMW ever, especially if that BMW is an M3, no matter how either car is set up, because an M3 is so BMW it can even out-BMW other BMWs.
As further evidence, the camaro is old and is a camaro. Everyone knows that camaros are old and camaros, and thus they lose. Especially to BMWs. Because BMWs win and Camaros lose.
Also, one time I drove a camaro and it was not faster than a BMW another time when I drove a BMW.
Even without this evidence...Camaros have the letter o in them. So does lose. BMWs have a w. So does win. Conclusion? Obvious.
Thus, I believe we can state unequivocably that this camaro would give absolutely no BMW a run for its own money or even the audi's money.

Iam not sure about how long i can steratch the line , whit the components in the motor all parts are rateted to 1000+ hp , but if i reach 1000 wheel horse power i think the limit to durability is close c",) as it is now it is built to hold , its not a engine , that has to be trow apart after each race , the goal it to just change oil trow a season , polly motorsport that has helpt me whit this engine is well nown to built strong and durabilty engines .

about the 2 other cars on the pictures . that is some of my friends cars , the audi puts out 785 HP 2,2 audi 5 syl 20V engine , the BMW M3 puts out 550 HP ,Turbo converted S14 engine 4 syl . both cars are built for track use . and have a lot of suspension modifying . they are wery fast cars , we have not race together yet .

23,000 wins, that means they won every day at least once for the last 60 years lol. Are they counting every amatuer event that a Porsche has entered?
Restomod

See cant prove it to anyone here...........................No matter what you cant beat gm,,,,
Damn True
05-11-2009, 09:27 AM
Got anything to back this up? Along with the amount of wins GM has had.
You aren't serious are you?
Porsche has over 28,000 road racing (including rally) victories in their companies history. No other marque even comes close to sniffing that number.
You go find the GM road racing victory total.
Back on topic. That 2nd Gen is seriously bad-a$$. But the owner has told us that it hasn't been tested/sorted on a road course. Declaring it a world-beater based on a few photos seems a tad premature.

guys, guys, guys, allow me to be the official bench racer here and lay down the final verdict on how a race that we have virtually no way to ever find out about will go down:
Case closed!
wooottt go bmw!!!!! Lmao!!!!!!!

PS. Owning a modified old Camaro and modified Porsche 996 I can say without a doubt. I feel safer and therefore have more confidence pulling G's in the Porsche. Anything more than a few centimeters/inches of pedal travel in the Camaro can result in wheel spin. Less confidence equals not easy to drive fast. 1000hp Camaro is a faster car with slower track/street times in the hands of a normal driver but much more fun.

OK so your another BMW fanatic on this site.....then what are you doing with a 78 Firebird? you should sell it and go live your dream.
Oh. my. god. Why did I never think of this?
I'm off to reevaluate my life. Anybody want to buy a firebird? Also will consider trades for BMWs, especially if they've won things. And ESPECIALLY if they've ever beaten a Porsche.
Thank you. Seriously. Thank you. You've changed my world.

How did I miss this car? Love the color and some of the details like the headlights. I really like the center exiting exhaust. The wheels look great and for a hood with a scoop, that one looks pretty good. The wing isn't too bad either and really fits with the attitude of the car. Definitely on the list of best second gens when you take into account form and function.

Also, Funny.
Porsche also has an, "O,S,E", in it, in THAT order. Sounds like the, "O", theory is only someone's, passing Fantasy.
Further, the BMW has the two letters, "B,M", in it. Coincidence?
