i have a 383 sbc with probably around 550 horse. im wondering what options i have for fuel injection in a sheet metal intake set up. i know this can get pricey. i dont want to spend a ton of money but i expect to spend atleast maybe $1000-$1500 for the intake alone? does that sound right? But what are my sheet metal intake options? i want something really trick looking but also to perform better then a carb.

i also want to know about the inividual throttle bodies. i cant find much info on them.

thanks
Jesse

I don't know of any sheet metal intakes for under $2500-$3K, unless you can find a great deal on a used one. The individual runner setups are great, but 2+ times the cost of the sheetmetal setups.

I have one of the Precision Metalcraft intakes on my LS2, great looking and performing setup.

Hogans also has some as well as Wilson Manifolds. I ran a converted Hilborn individual runner setup in a Cobra, worked great, but they are pricy to get set up.

Like Jody said,

Unless you build your own using parts from http://www.rossmachineracing.com/ You will not find a sheetmetal intake for less than $2.5K.

However, you may be able to build an ITB setup for the same amount with throttles from http://extrudabody.com/index.html . They have the least expensive TBs I have found on the net.

just realize with an IR setup you need a throttle body that will flow close to (or exceed) the individual head runner flow. Those mentioned are only available up to 45mm which flows a claimed 292 cfm (not bad), but a big block, LS, or decent small block will need more flow. The setup I pictured was a 2 3/16" butterfly and it was still a restriction for my fully ported Dart iron heads (heads flowed 320 cfm and I had 3 inches of vacuum or thereabouts at wot).

With an IR there is no "borrowing" of air from a plenum, what you get from that single throttle body is all that port can have, so make sure the flow rates match up well or it can cost you power. Forced induction, not so critical, I'm speaking mostly of naturally aspirated setups. Not a big deal until you're building a serious engine.

yeah thats alot of money. what can i do for under $2000. including my wiring and computer. is the holley stealth ram worth it? i like the look of the sheet metal and itb's but thats just a bit much for me. Theres gotta be some other options out there.

This is who I got my intake from, they make intaks for race cars, we have a few of them on other cars as well. They are not as fancy lookingin as some of the others, but I dont care, you may not as well. And they are cheapers the what has been posted. And every one is custom made.

Here are two pictures that I have off hand.
