I found a program called cucusoft video converter the converts dvds to mp4. Then you can import them to your ipod. Works really well. I forget how much it cost.

I did search the net before posting on here & saw a lot of things to try. My problem with downloading "free" stuff off the net is how much other crap gets installed when it is installed?

I use a program called HandBrake on my Mac and it works great. Reads in the DVD, saves it to a specified format, and then you can use plain ol' iTunes to import the file. Easy peasy.

X2!

I use Handbrake on my PC. Works the easiest in my opinion.

Yes, Handbrake is a freebie. Cheap at twice the price. :)

I had the same question, I'm going to try handbrake tonight. Can download it off download.com (c/net). Says its tested spyware free.

I just downloaded it & I all of the DVDs I put in won't convert. Copyrighted I guess.

I've also seen some of the older DVD writer's not work with the decode software. I had this problem.

Handbrake works great. If you are having problems try backing it up to a .iso using DVDShrink first.

Both totally free.

It's the encryption on the disc. Not handbrake.
I use ANYDVD, to "unlock" the discs you OWN, and make personal copies of.
AnyDVD runs in the background and scans the disc, then Handbrake or CloneDVD (another great program) will do most anything to our dvd you want to.

Keep in mind, that I keep saying YOUR dvds and Personal use copies, don't want anyone to be doing anything illegal.

use slyfox anydvd free trial to break encryption. Use dvdshrink to strip out all the extra stuff from the DVD. Then use handbrake to encode it to IPod format.
